marion home inspector: Relocating to Cedar Rapids, Iowa - 02/08/10 09:39 AM
As a Home Inspector that provids service to Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Cedar Falls and many surrounding areas it is with great pleasure that I often meet and perform home inspections for people relocating to my service area. One of the great things about doing home inspections for people relocating to my area is that I am a member of a local group of businesses that meets weekly called BNI. Within this group we pass referrals to one another when the opportunity presents itself, have lunch and keep our finger on the pulse of things. The members of the group hold each other to very high business practice standards.

marion home inspector: What is success? - 02/07/10 06:55 AM
My eight year old son asked me the other day about success. "What is success daddy?" Interesting question. I must have been running my mouth to my wife about different perceptions of the topic. I have to admit the question caught me off guard a bit. Fortunately, I think that is when the real truth comes out. I told him, "Success is defined by each person a little bit differently than the next." You can imagine the response to that one. I went on to tell him that I was talking to mommy about my work and that if you love what you

marion home inspector: Furnace filters and reality - 02/06/10 11:49 AM
Today I would like to discuss furnace filters with you. As a home inspector that services Cedar Rapids IA and Waterloo/Cedar Falls IA, I see a lot of furnaces on a weekly basis.I think a basic description of the method in which a furnace works is a good place to start. A furnace heats our home by moving air over a heat exchanger via fan and through a series of supply and return ducts. So, what we have is a circuit that starts at the air handler which pushes air over the heat exchanger, into the supply/distribution ducts. Air then returns to the furnace via the cold air return ducts

marion home inspector: Cedar Rapids, Waterloo/ Cedar Falls Home Inspector does Thermal Imaging - 05/30/09 07:11 PM
As promised, today I am going to talk a bit about thermal imaging. As a home inspector that services the Cedar Rapids and the Waterloo/Cedar Falls areas I am happy that I am certified in Thermal Imaging. Thermal imaging allows me to see moisture intrusion long before it becomes visible to the naked eye. This by itself is HUGE! It saves me from potential liability issues. It save any Real Estate Agents involved in the process a bunch of headaches. Most importantly, it saves the client from buying a home and living in it a month and all of a sudden the walls

marion home inspector: Cedar Rapids and Waterloo/Cedar Falls Home Inspector - 05/26/09 07:14 PM
As a Home Inspector that services both the Cedar Rapids and Waterloo/Cedar Falls area I keep very busy. I enjoy my work immensely as I am able to teach people about their new homes during the home inspection. Each home inspection takes between two and three hours depending on the condition of the property and the amount of questions that are asked. When performing the home inspection service I begin at the roof, end at the foundation and cover just about all points in between. This thorough, comprehensive and ordered approach enables me to be very detailed in my reporting. As an
