mecklenburg county real estate: From Your Realtor:Charlotte-area home prices creep up(still down 12%) - 09/25/09 08:14 AM
Charlotte-area home prices creep up Stella M. Hopkinsshopkins@charlotteobserver.com Posted: Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009 Charlotte-area home prices continued a slow creep upward in June, according to a closely watched index released this morning. Area sales prices remain in negative territory compared with a year ago, but rose .7 percent from May to June, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index. While that was down slightly from the previous month's uptick, it was the third monthly gain in four months and further evidence prices are stabilizing. The increase comes as the broader index of 20 metropolitan areas also has been improving.

Keeping it real When it comes to decorating your home this fall, comfortable yet contemporary is the new vibe By Kim CookAssociated Press Posted: Friday, Aug. 21, 2009Where fashion goes, home decor is never far behind. And this fall, home retailers continue to take cues from decades past, such as '60s and '70s styles ranging from loose and relaxed to sophisticated and worldly. "The perfect-home look is over," says Deborah Needleman, former editor-in-chief of Domino magazine. "It is so not of this moment. We're living in a freer time in terms of design and style. mecklenburg county real estate: CNN Money: Expensive Homes Missing The Recovery - 08/10/09 09:44 AM
The housing market may be showing signs of life, but you wouldn't know it by all the high-end inventory sitting around. NEW YORK (Fortune) -- In recent weeks, mortgage brokers, bankers, and even Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke have been talking about a housing rebound later this year. And the figures seem to back up their optimism: New home sales rose 11% in June for the third consecutive month. But for San Diego-based broker Tricia O'Brien, the recovery has been uneven at best. Her mid-size, mid-priced homes are selling at close to their listing price within a week -- but larger, luxury

mecklenburg county real estate: You Are Asking What For That Property? - 08/06/09 11:55 AM
Come on...I know most Realtors watch their pennies and dimes but I have to wonder about the agents and the SELEERS who list their properties so far off base it is not even funny...having been in that situation before, I know it is mostly the Sellers fault but...my theory is; If you bought your home in 2004-2007, you should not be looking for 25% or more increase in this market...Am I Wrong Here? I even run Archive Searches to see if they have done extensive upgrades or anything different, most have not...but still some people are crazy...Example...bought the home in 2005 for

Bargain houses selling as others keep sitting Homes under $100,000 double share of market By Stella M. Hopkinsshopkins@charlotteobserver.com Posted: Saturday, Aug. 01, 2009 Single-family homes under $100,000 have accounted for more than one in six Charlotte-area sales this year, almost double the rate before the downturn. Some of these deals are older houses and rural properties, which are often less expensive. Other homes have fallen below $100,000 amid a weak market that's pushed prices down. And a major driver of the low-end increase is foreclosures and distressed sales, more common among lower-priced houses. The erosion of property values pains the broader
