My bias to restaurants in the Margaret Place and Downtown area is not a secret. However, I do venture out, especially when one of my favorite clients come to town.  Such was the case today for lunch.  
We were greeted at an open door by none other than Nick Hunter, the ever competent owner of The Harlequin. Nick has an absolute knack for making customers feel welcome.  Combine this friendly and welcoming atmosphere with a menu that delivers tremendous quality and you'll quickly discover why The Harlequin is one of the most popular restaurants in Southwest Louisiana.

As much as I'm looking forward to ordering my own Reuben Sandwich at Booda's Bistro, I resolved to check out Chez Le Chien Chaud first. After all, gotta support these positive "happenings" in Downtown Lake Charles!
Considered the first "legal" umbrella restaurant in Southwest Louisiana, Chez Le Chien Chaud offers hot dogs and more for a quick lunch.
Heading South from Broad Street, it was easy to spot one of the latest attractions in Downtown Lake Charles.  The bright, multi-colored umbrella in front of the old and historic Calcasieu Marine Bank building could not be missed.

restaurants in lake charles: Yes! Downtown Lake Charles has an umbrella restaurant Hot Dog Vendor! - 07/25/10 01:48 PM
Chez le Chien Chaud is considered the first "legal" umbrella restaurant in Southwest Louisiana.
I'm not sure of the various Downtown Lake Charles locations, but have heard that Chez le Chien Chaud can be found at times at the Old Calcasieu Marine Bank.
Given that I've already committed to breakfast, and probably lunch, this week at Booda's Bistro, it may be next week before I experience a hot dog from this latest addition to downtown Lake Charles.
