Most of my colleagues accept the fact that, for the most part, I'm a stay-in-the-office-broker.  I receive the mass mails for agent open houses, but generally only attend those in the Shell Beach Drive and/or Charpentier or Margaret Place areas.

But, when Tony Cornner left me a personal voice mail with an invitation to three open houses yesterday, I knew I would travel to The Providence Subdivision in South Lake Charles.

In his voice mail, Tony enthusiastically described that each house was being staged by a different furniture company and were show-ready. Sadly, staging is not the "norm" in our area, so I wanted to see and support his efforts and the results of furnishings by 505 Imports, Household Furniture, and Howell Furniture.

Tony did everything right. Served a great Casa Manana, lunch complete with deserts, had plenty of help, marketed via personal invitation, e-mails, signage, and news coverage. The amount of work and coordination to make this happen reminds me of the Lucille Ball quote that goes something like, "If you want something done, ask a busy person."

Kudos to all!  The staging was beautiful and I was quite impressed to see artwork by local talent Vicki Singletary.

This issue of Jambalya Magazine provides details and photos of the staging efforts as well as several quotes by Tony.

I arrived early and was as impressed with the initial turnout as I was with the office support exhibited by Tony's fellow CENTURY 21, Mike D. Bono agents. In fact, one of the first people I noticed was fellow broker Mike Bono.  As a member of the Louisiana Real Estate Commission, I suspect Mike is quite busy, but not to busy to take time to personally visit each of the Providence open houses.

I enjoyed meeting some new agents and visiting with several agents that I've known for more years than any of us care to admit.

Members of the public can experience what the real estate community public enjoyed yestereday as all three homes will be open this Sunday from 1-3:00.
