Busier than I have ever Been !!! - 06/30/09 10:06 PM
For a real estate market that is supposed to be slow, I am busier than I have ever been. In the last 2 weeks, I have closed a house in Rancho Palos Verdes, and a home in Rolling Hills Estates tomorrow. My listing on the Esplanade in South Redondo Beach sold immediately, I picked up another listing yesterday, and have 2 listings on Lower Lunada Bay . I think that people may just now be realizing that this may be the time of a lifetime to buy a home with drastically reduced selling prices and historically low interest rates. For more

Federal Health Care Legislation a Must - 06/24/09 11:04 PM
I really believe that major changes need to be made in our healthcare system, especially the way that medical health insurance is provided to the American people. The biggest problem that I have with the current system is the ability of the Insurance industry to just "cherry pick" the healthiest of our citizens and to ignore everyone else that may have a pre-existing condition. The problem is not just the substantially higher cost of insurance premiums paid by those with pre-existing conditions, but the availability of insurance at all. If a person does not have access to guaranteed acceptance group plans,

Happy Father's Day !!! - 06/21/09 02:20 PM
I hope that everyone has a wonderful Father's Day today. The idea for creating a day for children to honor their fathers began in Spokane, Washington. A woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd thought of the idea for Father's Day while listening to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909. Sonora's father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father's Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June, 1910. In 1926, a National Father's Day Committee was formed in New York City. Father's Day was recognized by a Joint Resolution of Congress in

After agreeing to loan Terranea Resort up to $8.2 million in hotel tax revenue over the next several years, the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council has moved to put a measure on the November ballot that would raise that tax rate. If approved by a majority of voters, the measure would increase the transient occupancy tax - or TOT - from 10 percent to 12 percent, putting the city's rate in line with other coastal communities with major hotels. The revenue generated by the increase in the tax would not be loaned to Terranea but would instead flow into the

In the last day or so, a woman says she was riding her horse and leading a yearling on Upper Si's Canyon Trail in the Palos Verdes Estates area when a swarm of bees attacked, targeting her face and the horse she was riding. She escaped unharmed, and a bee hive was later removed from an old water meter that had been leaking. Origin of Palos Verdes Estates Street Names - 06/11/09 06:42 PM
The Palos Verdes Homes Association , through the Art Jury, has jurisdiction for aesthetic approval of all architectural plans and modifications of homes in Palos Verdes Estates and the Miraleste portion of Rancho Palos Verdes. The original restrictions on architectural designs also designated three separate districts, with each district having separate guidelines for the architectural style to be used there. For instance, the Malaga Cove area specifically did not allow Tudor style architecture or roofs with sharply sloped roofs, however this style was allowed, to a limited extent, in the Lunada Bay area of the Project. Interest Rates - No Where to Go But Up!!! - 06/06/09 04:01 PM
For weeks, I have been writing blog entries recommending to people to buy a home while interest rates are at historical lows. I have also written several entries over the last several months asking the question "What Happens when the Fed Stops Buying Securities?" The Federal Reserve has been keeping long term rates low by purchasing large sums of mortgage backed securities, as well as purchasing Treasury Securities, to keep their prices , and therefore their low yields, artificially supported. Well, the time to pay the piper is approaching. Many economists have warned that the ultimate result of huge government
