real estate: 5 home Buying Tips - 01/31/17 09:34 AM
Looking to buy a home? Here are five essential tips for making the process as smooth as possible.
Get your finances in order.
Start by getting a full picture of your credit. Obtain copies of your credit report. Make sure the facts are correct, and fix any problems you find. Next, find a suitable lender and get pre-approved for a loan. This will put you in a better position to make a serious offer when you do find the right house.
Find a house you can afford.
As with engagement rings, there’s a general rule of thumb when it comes to buying a home: two-and-a-half … (5 comments)

real estate: Seven reasons to Buy a Pre-Loved Home - 06/20/14 02:04 AM
Seven reasons to Buy a Pre-Loved Home, That's right, Pre-Loved, not simply Pre-Owned, because typically there has been a lot of love in most homes and really isn't Pre-Loved a nicer term than resale or pre-owned or as one of my buyers once referred to them as used homes.   But for purposes of this post we will be talking about owners who loved, cared and maintained their homes.

The proper real estate term would probably be resale home.  So let's talk about the advantages of a well maintained resale home -vs- a new build.

Franklin, Tennessee's Dickens of a Christmas
Too good to miss.  Of the dozen or so Franklin festivals Dickens of a Christmas is my favorite.  Perhaps it is because I have fond memories of the annual "A Christmas Carol" play by Dickens throughout my school years or the many wonderful renditions of this story, including the one that featured Mr. Magoo as Scrooge.  But of all the Christmas stories after the Nativity, this one rings true to me.
While walking around historic downtown Franklin is always heartwarming. It is exciting at the same time.  We still need a fresh market so … (1 comments)

real estate: Newer is Always Better - I Beg to Differ - 09/21/10 08:45 AM

This morning's Real Estate section headline read, "BUY NEW for a SAFE BET".   I thought, really and of course read on.  I understand that Nashville Tennessee is no different than any other city.  The newspaper has to sell ads and builders are big advertisers.  But the readers that live in houses buy those papers and they have to sell what my first Tennessee Realtor called their "pre-loved homes" someday.   So here I am making the case for the pre-owned, "pre-loved homes".
First of all I have lived in both brand new and pre-loved homes.   I loved my brand new home as much as … (6 comments)
