The Giant Pumpkin and Harvest Festival was held this weekend at Elk Grove Regional Park.  The new winner of the giant pumpkin contest in Elk Grove weighed 1684.5 pounds.  How does someone grow a pumpkin this size? 
The Harvest Festival has grown into a very large event for the whole family, with rides for the kids, giant pumpkins, scarecrows, music, games, pony rides, and so much more!  It looked like everyone was having so much fun today!

If you have been to San Francisco and not visited the Palace Hotel you are really missing out.  It is full of beauty, history and incredible ambience.  Built in 1875, it is located on New Montgomery Street in the heart of the San Francisco, just blocks away from Union Square, Chinatown, the Financial District and the Moscone Convention Center.  I had the pleasure of having lunch in the Garden Court, which is in the picture above for my daughter's 21st birthday.  What a treat!  The food was incredible and the service impeccable.

This past week, instead of selling real estate in Elk Grove, CA,  I spent the week vacationing in Santa Cruz, CA.  We go every year for the 4th of July week and have for over 30 years now...I find it relaxing and very enjoyable.  It feels almost like going home each year and yet I always find new advertures to keep my family entertained.  This year it was paddle boarding in the Santa Cruz harbor and whale watching on the Stagnaro's whale watching cruise going out of the harbor.  Once again we had a great time!

I have lived in California my whole life - over 50 years - and had never seen Yosemite National Park except in pictures until this weekend.  It's beautiful.  Having lived just 3 hours from it for my whole life, I have a hard time believing I have never visited it before.  If you get a chance, don't miss it.  I had an incredible day at Glacier Point, Bridalveil Falls, and Yosemite Valley.  I can't wait to go back and hike instead of just being a sightseer.  It is truly breathtaking....

Last year on Mother's Day I was in Amalfi, Italy with both of my daughters.  Amalfi is so beautiful and I had such an incredible time that I could not help but reflect back on it today.  If you are ever in Italy make sure to visit Amalfi and go by the Hotel Santa Cantarina, at least for brunch!  It's amazing.

One year ago today, I arrived in Florence, Italy for an incredible 3 week adverture!  I loved it and cannot wait to return.  Florence is a beautiful city and so full of life and history.  I am so blessed to have been able to travel with my family and see Florence, Venice, Amalfi, Rome and Montalcino.

It's Sunday morning and while relaxing and having coffee, my mind often drifts back to my trip last year to Italy....
It was such an incredible trip!  I was able to visit Florence, Venice, Amalfi, Rome and Montalcino with my daughters.  Venice was unbelievable!  I actually felt like I was on a movie set or something.  It doesn't seem real.  This is a photo taken from our boat as we were arriving in Venice.  If you want to get a good feel for Venice, watch the movie "The Tourist". 
Can't wait to return!

Every year we spend the 4th of July in Santa Cruz with family and friends.  I have been coming to Santa Cruz for the past 30-35 years of my life each summer and really enjoy the beach, boardwalk, wharf, shopping, and restaurants.  It's become a family tradition to spend the 4th of July in "OUR" beach house in the Seabright area of Santa Cruz and we love it!
