Issues Around National Data Are Not Applicable At The Neighborhood Level Says Long-Time MLS Executive DENVER, CO--(March 8, 2011) - Amid a growing controversy over the accuracy of national housing data, Patricia Bybee, President CEO of Metrolist, Inc., is encouraging the industry to keep its focus on the reliability of local data.
At issue is the perceived accuracy of what's widely considered the most popular measure of existing home sales, the National Association of Realtors' (NAR) Existing Home Sales, specifically that the report has increasingly overstated home sales. Congress is considering changes to the tax code in order to pay for a number of tax provisions expiring in 2010. Two of these provisions would impact real estate. The first would require all owners of rental properties to file IRS 1099 forms for all contractors they do business with if they pay that contractor $600 or more in any given year. This onerous provision would apply to even the smallest landlord.
In addition, Congress is considering taxing "carried interest" at ordinary income rates instead of capital gains. Carried interest rules govern how general partners in real estate investments pay taxes when the investment is sold. … (0 comments)

You can now enter a square footage range for Lot Size in PrimeAccess® Power Search.
In order to make this request a reality, we have been working hard to make Lot Size consistent from listing to listing. As of the end of March, Lot Size must now be entered as the square footage of the lot, not as a dimension or as acreage.
