Issues Around National Data Are Not Applicable At The Neighborhood Level Says Long-Time MLS Executive DENVER, CO--(March 8, 2011) - Amid a growing controversy over the accuracy of national housing data, Patricia Bybee, President CEO of Metrolist, Inc., is encouraging the industry to keep its focus on the reliability of local data.
At issue is the perceived accuracy of what's widely considered the most popular measure of existing home sales, the National Association of Realtors' (NAR) Existing Home Sales, specifically that the report has increasingly overstated home sales. The NAR has dismissed claims it could dramatically mis-report national sales numbers.

national association of realtors: New MLS Standards Will Help Realtors® Better Serve Home Sellers and Buyers - 05/11/10 10:54 PM

Real estate data sharing on multiple listing services is about to get easier, with the Real Estate Standards Organization's approval of real estate property standard names. The standard names were introduced by the MLS Cooperative Venture (COVE) in March during RESO's General Assembly conference.
RESO oversees the National Association of Realtors®-supported Real Estate Transaction Standard, which defined an approach for exchanging listings with multiple listing services.
"NAR applauds COVE for its contributions that make data standards stronger," said Mark Lesswing, NAR senior vice president and chief technology officer. "This new standardization will also help Realtors® better serve their clients. … (4 comments)
