horses: Horsing Around ... Putting it Into Perspective - 12/03/13 09:18 PM
Just when I think about what a goodly amount of time and money is spent taking care of multiple pets, I put it in perspective by thinking about people with multiple horses. Everything must be on a so much grander scale. You certainly can't just pop them into the car and drive to the vet's office when they don't feel well. I would guess that a 50 pound bag of food wouldn't last any time at all. I wouldn't want to be the one trying to give them any kind of pill...those are very big teeth and jaws. Then, I … (5 comments)

horses: Timing is Everything...Don't Be a Horse's Ass - 02/21/13 01:58 PM
Sometimes if you don't go ahead and take advantage of a good photo op, then you might as well look at yourself in the rear view mirror, call yourself a horse's ass and just get it over with.  Some things won't happen more than once and you'll end up cussing yourself out later.   This photo was taken in the Betty's Creek area and originally posted in 2011.  I remember being so tickled to catch the shot and to not be calling myself a horse's ass today (at least not for this reason).  When I drove by this same area last week … (15 comments)

horses: What a Horse's Ass! - 11/10/12 01:47 PM
Now, tell the truth...you thought this would be a rant of some kind, right?   My cell phone rang earlier today and it was someone wanting to do a drive by on our listing at 847 Timbuktu Road but they needed directions.  As I was telling this person how to get to the house, I remembered a photo I took once on one of the roads leading to the house.  I was thinking...how lucky to be in a profession that we usually have a camera with us!       Timing is everything...     … (20 comments)

horses: And The Winners of the Pet Project Contest Are... - 04/30/12 03:43 PM

Drum Roll Please! The judges and I agree that the Pet Project Contest has been an extraordinary experience. The sense of community and support was overwhelming. We were constantly reminded by participants that they were getting as much out of the contest as they were giving and enjoying getting to know the animal service resources in their own community. The level of concern and commitment for quality animal welfare was just off the charts.
Because we all tend to be familiar only with our own backyard, one of the most eye opening elements of this contest was that through localism … (51 comments)

horses: What Does the Pet Project Contest Say About Us? - 04/24/12 01:32 PM
The Pet Project Contest judges have been poring over the hundreds of contest entries and are quite impressed with the level of knowledge of, compassion for and commitment to animal rights and welfare issues that the ActiveRain members have exhibited in their writing.
Over and over, AR members have expressed enthusiasm for the subject and it shows. What may be as interesting as the posts have been the hundreds of supportive comments made by fellow AR members. The sharing, bonding and networking activity has been a joy to observe. We’ve seen members who’d never “met” other members before this contest and … (17 comments)

horses: Deadline Tomorrow, midnight E.S.T., Monday 4/23/12 for Pet Project Contest - 04/22/12 11:50 AM

horses: The Frady Cove NEIGHborhood ~ Friday Fotos - 03/09/12 01:54 PM

Frady Cove is one of my favorite NEIGHborhoods in Jackson County. It’s a great location with a rural feel but only 5 minutes to town and 10 minutes to Western Carolina University. We have clients who are considering making an offer on a new home in the Frady Cove neighborhood and because they had to return home to Chicago, I met with the builders on the property to tie up a few loose ends.

For years I’ve enjoyed seeing the farm on the corner of Frady Cove Road and Blake Branch Road photographing the two horses and the mule. They … (12 comments)
