reblogging: The Dreaded Red "X" and Reblogs...What's Up With That? - 01/08/13 01:23 PM
There seems to be a higher rate of the dreaded red "X" showing up at the bottom of posts.  Sometimes I understand it, someone may have just copied and pasted a listing sheet...no original content, got that.  Perhaps it is a market report, just the report.  Someone else might have posted a bible passage and nothing else...definitely not original content.  I've seen whole newspaper articles inserted without editorial comment or an acknowledgement of the true author.  Those instances of the dreaded red "X" I do understand but on reblogs?  I'm really mystified and it makes me paranoid to do any … (18 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging Kwee's...I Hit 300,000 in AR “My Univ of Real Estate “ - 07/21/12 10:05 PM
Kwee Husett lives and works in Venice, FL....not far from where my mother lives in Port Charlotte.  She just hit her 300,000 point mark and for those of us who joined AR about the same time as Kwee understand some of her statements in the post.
She is absolutely right about the advice and knowledge gleaned from each other is key to bettering our business and her post is one of the best shout-outs I've ever seen about the value of AR University.  Most of us knew a big honking amount of squat about blogging when we started.  I join Kwee … (5 comments)

reblogging: Nellie Made Me Cry ! ! ! Reblogging "Music. Good Music. Happy. BUT we've all got a story" - 05/07/12 10:25 PM
Yep, Nellie made me cry but I'm reblogging her post anyway!
When I decided to morph a different music on Mondays group into the present Monday Melodies group, it was my hope that people would post videos and tell why that particular piece of music moved them.  I think we can learn a great deal about each other by experiencing music through another's ears.
Nellie Lytvinenko's first post is a stellar offering and I hope you'll invest the 8 minutes and watch this incredible performance.
Please join us in Monday Melodies and let's get to know each other through music.
Thank … (4 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging! Andi Grant's Why My First Time Home Buyers Didn't Make an Offer on Your Home - 03/14/12 10:23 PM
How would you like to provide your seller with this kind of feedback?
Dark wood paneling with bulky overstuffed furniture(that made them feel closed in as if they've walked into a giant coffin - this was actually said by one of my first time home buyers recently!)  Ouch...that would hurt, wouldn't it.  We don't list houses like the ones that Andi Grant has so eloquently described in her blunt, honest but humorous post today.  Well, humorous to us agents anyway.
Even though we don't list them...we've definitely inadvertantly shown them!  Yuck ! ! !

Here's a List of Reasons Why My First … (8 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging! - Do you ever get tired of Mimi Foster? I'm having a hard time deciding................ - 02/18/12 11:03 PM
Roger Mucci had a brilliant and provocative title about getting tired of Mimi Foster...like who could?  Probably it is a miracle that more glitches are busting out of the seams with the recent server move thingie that ActiveRain just did.
I though this post was so clever and the comments to it so witty that I wanted Roger's post to be shared with other groups...since we can only post to 5.  Since he's stuck on Mimi, he'll probably never noticed that I re-blogged him!
Have a great day.

For the past few days I've been asking myself "are you tired … (9 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging! - Watch for AR Downtime Tonight 8PM-1AM Pacific Std Time - 02/16/12 04:53 AM
Thank Goodness for reblogging.  If it hadn't been for Mimi Foster I would have missed this.  I kinda sorta wondered anyway...I dutifully did not sign on on Valentine's Day evening.  The next morning I was so excited to see how much quicker AR would be for loading.  The optimist in me struggled with the realist.  I wanted to believe it was faster, but wanting didn't make it so.
The optimist in me congratulated AR in being able to get back online.  I just figured they wanted the guts of AR back in their control so that they would have time to … (10 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging! J. Philip Faranda's "What is it About Real Estate Agents and Dogs?" - 01/28/12 04:35 AM
J Philip Faranda is just plain out a terrific writer.  His conversational style makes all topics a pleasure to read.
This article is about the correlation between dogs and Real Estate Agents.  I like his 44 year old non-scientific reasoning because it comes from the heart.  One of the nice things about participating in ActiveRain is a chance to share our appreciation of our 4 legged companions and to open ourselves up to consumers seeing that aspect of ourselves shining through.

Our Office Manager, Sienna especially liked this post and urges you to visit J Philip and tell him … (5 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging! - William Johnson's "Why Do You Think Readers Read Your Blog Posts and Who Are They ?" - 01/18/12 02:41 PM
William Johnson is one of my favorite bloggers and today was no disappointment.  I know and really appreciate that non ActiveRain members read and comment on my posts, it is always a thrill to see those comments included among my AR friends.
William suggests a call to action and maybe it would be as simple as an attractive banner added by AR inviting consumers to actively participate in commenting and contacting writers of blogs they find interesting.
It's my pleasure to reblog this and to suggest William for a feature.  Please go by and comment on his blog too.

reblogging: Reblogging! "Stop Renting - Busting a few myths about buying a home" - 12/19/11 12:13 AM
This is such a clearly written post and should be in your arsenal of easy to send links for those folks who are sitting on the fence about buying.  I'm bookmarking it for sending to those folks calling into the office who are "kinda sorta" thinking it's time to move on from their rental status.
I also clicked suggest because the article is written simply and that is the beauty of it.  Joseph manages to convey a great message without overwhelming the reader.
No more excuses. Go buy a home!
The housing market has changed dramatically, and everyone should be taking … (6 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging! - Kristine Ginsberg's If You Work Active Rain, Active Rain Will Work for You! - 09/01/11 03:02 AM
Here's my chance to do a bit of reblogging for Kristine Ginsberg, Lady Stager of NJ!  Her post about working activerain and the payoff being ActiveRain working for you was inspirational.
The biggest thing to take from this...don't buy into anyone else's reason for blogging.  Jump in the puddle and don't be afraid of getting splashed or muddy!  Like most journeys, we often start out with one destination in mind and then good old serendipity steps in and we discover that on our way to our destination we get to embrace all kinds of good and groovy things about ourselves and … (3 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging! - Are Your Contracts Reflecting Your Professionalism? - 08/13/11 02:26 AM
Connie Goodrich from McKinney, Texas posted this terrific article about well presented offers.  I am as always honored to add these special articles to the Reblogging! sement.
Many agents do not realize that the best Offers aren't written on the fly.  As Connie points out there are a tremendous number of points to clarify before you even bring the contract software up.
Lenders are expecting and rightfully so to receive a professionally executed document.  Don't you think that is the least you can provide to make the whole process flow smoother?
Even though I am a long way from the agency … (9 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging! - If You Cannot Afford a Home Inspection Don't Buy The House - 08/11/11 10:36 AM
I love finding articles for my little REBLOGGING! theme and this one about "If You Can't Afford the Home Inspection Don't Buy The House" appeals to my penny wise pound foolish thinking.
Doug Rogers from Pineville, Louisiana authored a really good post about why the money a homebuyer will spend on a home inspection is a critical investment.
Personally, we have nightmares when buyers decide against a professional home inspector and opt to go with their Dad's buddy who works construction, or their friend who happens to be real handy, or...you get it.
I clicked on SUGGEST when I was at … (6 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging! - What a Realtor should anticipate from underwriters - 08/05/11 12:54 AM
I couldn't hit reblog fast enough when I read Ray's article.  I ranted yesterday over my frustration of not knowing which hoop would be presented to jump through next on recent deals.
Okay, I get it now...there's a bunch!  We can all deal with that if we know ahead of time.  The information also screams CAVEAT if your buyer needs USDA or FHA and the house they just LOOOOVE does not have a written shared well or shared road maintenance agreement.  We'll either need to make that a contingency of the contract or gently nudge buyers to fall in love with … (2 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging! It makes me a little CRAZY !!!! - 08/03/11 09:26 AM
Reblogging!  Unbeknownst to me, Donna had blogged about the same non-identification issue that I blogged about this morning.  She reblogged me and I'm returning the favor.  My blog wondered what you think about the issue and Donna actually tells you how to fix it!
I would really appreciate it, if my fellow activerainers would enter their name on their Profile Page, so that it is visible when they leave comments on my blog. I like to address people by name, when I respond to the comments they leave me. I don't want to address them by the name of their company. I don't know how … (6 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging! - Shouldn't We All...Listen for the whisper? - 07/30/11 03:55 AM
I'm reblogging it! Jon Eliason from Colorado has only been in real estate since 2008 but obviously he gets it.  Leslie shared Jon's blog with me this morning and I really love the poetry of his writing.

He is so right - the houses will talk to you if you will just open your ears and mind to hear what it has to say!  Leslie is excellent at divining what people are looking for, even if they can't verbalize it themselves...yet.

Enjoy reading Jon's blog and then tell me why you enjoyed it...then go to Jon's blog and convey … (9 comments)

reblogging: Reblogging! - It Was My Choice To Take It In The First Place..Right??? Yep Yep Yep - 07/20/11 03:48 PM

Do you remember Art Linkletter's "Kids say the Darndest Things"?  There sure could be a show called "REALTORS say the Darndest Things"!  Both Patricia Kennedy and Martha Brown have written excellent posts about this very subject.

Except for embezzling the trust account, there is nothing worse than an agent ignoring their fiduciary duties to their clients.  Can you even imagine them in a Dual Agent role if they haven't grasped the simplest concept of Seller or Buyer Agent?
There have been many occasions when we've been employed as Buyer Agents that finding out the Seller's motivation and bottom line … (10 comments)

reblogging: Re-blogging! - It's Sunday, find some inner peace. - 07/17/11 03:07 AM

Clint McKie sometimes presents quirky posts and they are always worth checking out.  I met Clint during the exhausting but fulfilling 31 Days of May Challenge.  We were loyal to each other's posts for 31 days.  You really get to know someone like that...don't you?

Clint's post today is getting re-blogged because he is the second blogger today to make me out and out smile big.  Savor and scroll slowly when you read this and then stop at Clint's blog and give him his very own comment too.
It's Sunday, find some inner peace.

reblogging: Pass the Word and Share the Value - An Opinion on Re-Blogging - 07/10/11 05:21 PM
Can I share with you my thinking about the matter and manner of reblogging?  I've only been blogging since February and honestly, I didn't get the whole reblogging thing.  It seemed odd to me to "borrow" someone else's work.  Now, I'm seeing it as a way to pass the word and share the value.

There are a number of ActiveRain people who not only blog regularly, but they reblog regularly.  I haven't done much of it up until now because frankly it felt kind of hinky to me.  This morning though, I had sort of an epiphany today about reblogging … (11 comments)
