silent saturday: Some Creatures Aren't Meant to be Domesticated - 06/22/12 10:18 PM
Some creatures aren’t meant to be domesticated and ought to be allowed to roam freely about their native habitats. Very few Tree Dudes have ever been tagged with numbers and this display of captivity feels to me almost like harboring exotic animals. It was evident that this Tree Dude felt a little chagrined with his ID number branded on his brow and his feet entwined in flowers for all to see. (I've obscured the number to prevent further humiliation).

This Tree Dude will likely long outlive the flowers and the life of the wooden plaque.  But with his very … (18 comments)

silent saturday: The Heart of the Peony ~ Silent Saturday - 04/21/12 01:37 PM

The Peony in Dillsboro survived our recent high winds and dips into freezing weather thanks to Mark & Shirley from
Shirley’s Boutique. They made sure that the little Peony tree was covered every night with a box. They are always doing that kind of thing. Just like this Peony, they have a lot of heart!

silent saturday: Springtime at the Farmhouse - 04/14/12 05:56 AM

It’s been a real pleasure to show the farmhouse property just outside of Dillsboro several times over the last couple of weeks. The weather has been perfect, it’s early enough in the season to not have to be overly concerned about ground bees and everything smells fresh and lovely.

All seasons are pleasant at the farmhouse…there’s just something special about springtime.

silent saturday: Self Styled Fire Truck Tailgate Party in Dillsboro, NC ~ Silent Saturday - 04/06/12 10:25 PM

The attendance at the Fire Truck Tailgate Party in Dillsboro, NC was limited…to one. George the goat again outwitted the electric fence and sprung to freedom because as we all know the other man’s grass is always greener and the sun shines brighter on the other side.

Tastier snacks than than the hillside brambles he's been eating are apparently more tempting than any goat can stand...or jump...or climb...

Goats are super efficient hillside clearers and they‘ve done a great job on the hillside by Scotts Creek, but I’d hate to trust them to judicious weeding in the flower … (16 comments)

silent saturday: The Colors Speak Loudly ~ Silent Saturday - 03/30/12 11:12 PM

The flowers are everywhere in Jackson County, NC. Not only are homeowners adding dashes of color in pots and gardens, but the towns, county, merchants and professionals are all brightening the exteriors of their areas.

It is so hard to not feel positive and optimistic with all this beauty around us. Silent Saturday may be the reason for posting these photos, but the colors are anything but silent. In fact they proclaim their presence loudly!

silent saturday: After the Rain in Dillsboro, NC ~ Silent Saturday - 03/24/12 06:52 AM
We are still somewhat in shock with the early arrival of tall grass, blooming plants and trees, and the buzzing of insects. A stroll around historic Dillsboro, NC the other day following a cloudburst yielded a few great photo opportunities. Don’t you think everything looks more lush and softer following the rain?

silent saturday: Tree Art in Cowee - 03/17/12 01:21 PM

If you’ve caught any of my Tree Art posts, you’ll know I love catching sight of the Tree Dudes whenever I’m out showing property. This one was in Franklin in the Cowee area. The buyers I’ve been working with over the last couple of days had never seen the Tree Faces. Do I know how to show people a good time or what?

This Tree Dude seemed a little irritated…I guess he’d seen the house too!

silent saturday: Pouty Little Angel - Silent Saturday - 02/24/12 09:10 PM
What on earth could this pouty little angel have done that he chose to sit in a corner on a cold concrete bench on a rainy day in Waynesville, NC?  Whatever he did, he looks like he regrets his actions and could use a little forgiveness...and maybe some hot chocolate!  That always makes me feel better.

silent saturday: It's About the Office Manager and the Quality of a Good Working Atmosphere - 02/17/12 08:56 PM

Again…it’s about the Office Manager of MoonDancer Realty and the quality of a good atmosphere in the workplace.
The Office Manager has a little friend named “Squirrel”. It is an intensely serious relationship and the Office Manager takes very good care of Squirrel. Sometimes when the Office Manager isn’t looking or has gone for her daily constitutional, Squirrel gets out of the bed and into some very unlikely places…like the deck of Cannon’s Corner, the brick sidewalks of Dillsboro, the bridge crossing Scotts Creek or in the neighboring shop, Monkey’s Toes. To say that the look on the Office Manager’s … (6 comments)

silent saturday: Mystic Grey Lace ~ Silent Saturday - 02/04/12 03:16 PM

This truly has been a welcome Silent Saturday with the exception of the sound of raindrops falling throughout most of the day. It felt really good to be in the house all nice and dry while appreciating the fog and the rain here in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

silent saturday: A Neighborhood We CAN Talk About - Silent Saturday - 01/28/12 01:36 PM

Here’s the kind of neighborhood we CAN talk about! This was taken on the shores of the Spring Creek in Hot Springs, NC. These little neighborhoods exist as part of our eco-system and when you take the time to really look at them are quite beautiful.

There were several clusters adhered to the fallen timber all along the creek. The environment there must be just perfect.

silent saturday: Silent Saturday~~Thinking About Tropical Colors - 01/14/12 11:09 AM
Winter in the mountains can be beautiful here but we don't have our bright colors so I found myself thinking about tropical colors. Tropical reminds me of my friend in Florida, Frisco. Granted this is an odd choice for Silent Saturday because Frisco can be quite the chatterbox!

For those of you in the winter climates - doesn’t looking at Frisco’s stunning colors make you feel cheerier? I’m already looking forward to see him and his friend Lulu during their next trip to the mountains. I really want to get Lulu’s picture next time…
