Get Your Monster Crabs Here - 05/25/09 02:59 PM

It is Memorial Day. Which is the unofficial start of the summer season, and what would summer be without crabs... delicious Maryland blue crabs that is.
I "banged" the hugest crabs I have ever seen yesterday. They weren't large, they weren't extra large, they weren't jumbos...they were so big they're called MONSTERS.  I swear from claw to claw they were 15-16 inches. Super meaty with jumbo lump backfin crab meat.  Oh my.
It is always interesting to have someone at the table that has never seen anyone do this before.  The concept of throwing these weird looking crustaceans out … (5 comments)

Event News - Air Show Returns To Ocean City, Maryland - 05/24/09 11:16 AM

There will be air craft and performers from all five branches of the military, including the United States Coast Guard. Virtual Currencies? Is This Like Monopoly Money? - 05/19/09 02:04 PM

Virtual on line currencies exist only on the internet.  Social networks, such as a site called hi5, sell a currency called hi5 Coins, which enable its users to buy gifts on line. These purchased gifts appear digitally on the recipient's profile.  The person doesn't really receive anything it's only an image on a web site.
Sounds pretty strange huh..... I have been reading that currencies that exist only online are becoming a more significant part of doing business on the Web, and some even in the real world.
Several online currencies are rumored to be competing to be the "dollar" … (3 comments)

How Much Do I Need To Put Down On My Condominium Purchase? - 05/18/09 06:08 PM
Just a little "tidbit" of info that I garnered today that I thought I would pass along.
Lending guidelines have become more stringent with our current market conditions. But I seem to learn something new all the time.
It is my understanding that some states have a "no exception rule" to the 20% down payment requirement if that lender is selling the loan on the secondary mortgage market.  Now I know that Florida is one of those states, especially in the condominium market.
Fortunately, Maryland is not.
If you are considering a second home or investment property at a beach resort, … (0 comments)

What is Twitter? - 05/16/09 11:36 AM
Do You Use Twitter?
I am always curious how individuals in different walks of life utilize things. Anything...from a new lawn mower to a great new wok that they are finding exciting recipes for, to a super high end stereo system, to a not so little tiny application called Twitter.
I had lunch the other day with our oldest son, and he brought a friend of his. This young man is a newly minted medical doctor. He's extremely intelligent, motivated and who I would consider to be a very savvy individual.  He has a cell phone and a computer. Interestingly enough … (2 comments)

Stimulate Home Buying; How Can Government Help The Housing Market - Musings from MidYear - 05/14/09 11:23 AM
The 2009 Mid Year Legislative Meeting of the National Association of REALTORS is from May 11 - 16, 2009 in Washington, D.C.
I have been following the proceedings on line and found comments very interesting coming from those in attendance, and thought I would pass some of these comments along. As a real estate agent, and a homeowner and investment property owner, I feel some of the same sense of frustration.
Comments from DC:
•·         A much more streamlined short sale process.
•·         Great confusion amidst consumers regarding the $8000 home buyer credit.
•·         Government should extend the #1 - amount … (2 comments)

Coastal Hospice
Wishing all my congratulations to the Committee Members of "The Blues On The Bay II Committee" for their successful fundraising event held this evening at Macky's Bayside Bar & Grill in Ocean City, Maryland.
This wonderful group of people put together a wonderful event for the benefit of our local Coastal Hospice currently working out of Wicomico County.  There was great food, great music and great fun for all.  Our local Hospice has a three phase plan to open a new multi functional facility in Worcester County. With such wonderful individuals in our community, I have no doubt that … (0 comments)

Second Home Real Estate Market - 05/12/09 01:12 PM
NAR's (National Association of REALTORS) 2009 Investment and Vacation Home Buyers survey shows that second home buyers tend to be more confident about today's housing market.
Second homes accounted for 30 percent of all home transactions last year, down from 33 percent in 2007 and 40 percent in 2005 - the peak year for home speculation. NAR's chief economist Lawrence Yun said, "That it was expected that vacation home sales would fall given the impact of a declining economy on discretionary purchases". Yun noted that a steady share of investment home sales came from buyers who took advantage of deeply discounted … (0 comments)

It's The Little Things In Life - 05/11/09 01:19 PM

The older I get, the more I realize and value the little things in life that really are the most important. A bright sunny day, a beautiful bird flying by my window, a great meal, listening to the sound of laughter, giving someone else a reason to be incredibly happy, or happening to catch a glimpse of a rainbow.   A gift that is incredibly precious is that of the smile of a child. Today, a very special little girl gave me some big smiles, and they are absolutely priceless.

Boardwalk Stroll in Ocean City, Maryland - 05/10/09 03:44 PM
I spent a wonderful afternoon on the boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland on Mother's Day. It was a warm and beautiful day, and it is beginning to look and feel like summer at the beach.
I want to take this opportunity to wish all the Mom's out there a very Happy Mother's Day. Mom's are the corner stone of our lives and they should always be recognized...not just on one specific date.
Enjoy your day!

Kids Are Kids At All Ages - 05/07/09 02:13 PM

For years my kids have posed in their "dress up clothes" as they have primped and fussed about their appearance before attending a landmark event in their lives.  The biggest of those events being their Prom or a Homecoming dance. Now it's been a while since they've been in high school (Stephen Decatur High - right outside of Ocean City, Maryland)....but some things never change.
My son, Chris, traveled home this past weekend to attend a friend's wedding. He brought a date with him, and probably not as much to my surprise as it should have been, he needed his … (5 comments)
