Happy Halloween - 10/31/08 04:13 PM
I hope you all have a wonderful Halloween!
If I could get away with it...I'd still go trick or treating today...wouldn't you? I really miss all that yummy candy and chocolate bars. My favorite Halloween candy has to be Mounds Bars! LOL I used to steal them right out of my kids trick or treat bags. Now that was fun!
Enjoy my little video and hopefully it will make you smile.
Stay Safe this Halloween

Hampstead NH trick or treat... a true fright - 10/30/08 03:08 PM
Spooky streets The streets of Hampstead NH are pretty spooky looking with many frightful sights. One home in particular on Emerson Avenue is all decked out.
These folks always go all out with their holiday decorations. At Christmas time the home is always ablaze in holiday spirit. This year they have a real spooky set up for Halloween. Their whole front yard is full of creepy characters and all lite up with spooky lighting. It's worth a drive by just to see it. But be forewarned...it's more than a bit creepy.

MLS # 2749511 Waterfront for sale at 12 Dixon Lane Derry NH - 10/30/08 06:38 AM
Imagine being Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and clicking your heals saying " Roll back prices" Well guess what? You can be Dorothy and click your heels right on over to 12 Dixon Lane on Big Island Pond in Derry New Hampshire!
I love Big island Pond For years I've been lucky enough to have friends and family who live on the lake so I've been able to enjoy this private paradise. Jay and I've kayaked and boated all over the lake over the years and we have always considered it a special Southern New Hampshire treasure.

Southern NH home owners - 10/28/08 03:06 PM
Southern New Hampshire home owners...are you thinking of selling? In this market we all know a home needs to be "prepared" to sell or "staged" to sell as some would call it. Curb appeal is extremely crucial, both at the curbside and on the Internet and staging or following some simple tips will make a big difference. I can get a potential buyer to your home but once there your home needs to capture them. Your home needs to "pop" and touch the buyer. Often times I refer to that as they need to hear the music in their heart when … (5 comments)

NH Puppy Mills... - 10/25/08 03:11 PM
A fellow Prudential Verani REALTOR, Sherry Bezanson, is a passionate animal lover She often sends out alerts and is always trying to find homes for dogs.
Jay and I haven't had a dog since we lost our little Bandit 6 years ago but my heart goes out to all the mis-treated pets and I think what Sherry does for these animals is incredible.
If you're a pet lover or simply someone who wants to help this will interest you.

Penn State whoops Michigan...finally - 10/20/08 08:34 AM
A wild and wacky weekend at Happy Valley PA! We drove down to Penn State, an eight hour ride, to spend the weekend with friends and attend the Penn State- Michigan football game. The game was highly anticipated as Michigan has whooped Penn State the last nine times they've met.
The tailgating was awesome with over 1100 camping units and god knows how many cars parked all over the place. I must say that the fans were all just great...I saw Michigan and Penn State fans party side by side with a lot of good natured ribbing of course.
I thought … (14 comments)

There's no place like Home... a New Hampshire waterfont home that is... - 10/14/08 08:03 PM
Like Dorthy said in the Wizard of Oz "There is no place like home"... I say there is no place like your own waterfront home and as we travel the road into winter there is no better time to buy than now.
A recent question posed via e-mail asked "When is the best time to buy a waterfront property in NH?" and "When can I get the best "deal" for waterfront in NH?".
When is the best time to buy? The best time in my opinion is at the end of the summer and into fall but before the cold freezing … (6 comments)

On the Radio---Very cool! - 10/11/08 09:25 AM
This past Monday, Oct 6, I was interviewed live on a local Concord NH radio program called In The House on WKXL1450.
The program was on the air from 1pm to 2pm and the topic was REALTOR Ethics and how they effect (or is it affect) the consumer. We ended up running out of time so the second interview will take place Monday Oct 13th and will be broadcast live. Funny thing is, as a kid I always wanted to be on the radio in fact I used to play act using a brush as my microphone...Think of Tom Cruise dancing … (14 comments)

How Humiliating I was stood up...part 2 - 10/10/08 07:28 PM
Funny how things happen. Last week I got an internet lead and immediately recognized the name. I had this customer back in June of 2007 and wrote a post about the experience on my other (inactive) Active Rain blog. I'm thinking that I really shouldn't even bother with her but a part of me wants to help her out. Another part says...fool me once- shame on you- fool me twice- shame on me.
Oh what to do???

Exploring Vermont - 10/10/08 02:49 PM
On Tuesday I was in Rutland Vermont where I taught the Vermont Association of REALTORS full day Professional Standards workshop. The class offered seven hours of continuing education credit which 120 REALTORS took advantage of. Most of these REALTORS serve on the Professional Standards and Grievance committees and Board of Directors for various local boards. It was a great class!
Vermont is a beautiful state and I was lucky enough that my hubby Jay was able to go with me so that we could enjoy a leisurely ride home the next day. The foliage was awesome and the whole state is … (5 comments)

Prudential Verani Web stats - 10/09/08 01:05 PM
Our internet web stats for the month of September 2007 vs September of 2008 is a clear indication that the housing slowdown is real. Interestingly, while looking at the broker showings on our listings it shows me that showing are way up compared to the same time frame last year. Also, our Featured Home page on the front page of our site is featuring our listings at a much higher rate than this time last year. Unique visitors are down a little but having over 20,000 unique visitors is not bad. A unique visitor is a visitor whose computer IP address … (4 comments)

Why bother doing an Open House... - 10/05/08 04:53 PM

I seriously do not like open houses! Really I don't!
Jay and I held two of our listings open which means we did a lot of sitting and waiting.
My sellers prepped the house and it looked lovely but only one customer came through and they were looking for a lease rather than a purchase.
Jay didn't do much better at his. He had some drive bys but no one got out of the car.
Maybe sitting and waiting at an open is a waste of time. Not a new concept at all. But still we do opens, we disrupt … (19 comments)

NH Housing Statistics...more than just numbers - 10/01/08 09:47 PM

New Hampshire Home sales it's more than statistics...much more You can read all the statistics in the press and hear the dire reports on the news. In fact a recent issue of New Hampshire Business Review, business news and analysis, had a headline crying out "NH Home Sales Drop 23 % in August" which talks about the drop in the real estate market in comparison to 2007.
Those of us that lived through the infamous real estate year of 2007 know that it was a pretty bleak year so you can imagine how 2008 has been for many.
