active rain: 2 Active Rain Years later....and what a difference AR has made in my life - 11/01/08 08:38 PM
I can't believe that two years have passed since I wrote my first post on Active Rain... It was about an Ethics class that I had taught and I creatively (lol) titled it  Oct 29  2006-New Member Ethics Class.
One night a few weeks later, I had a bit too much wine to drink, wrote a post and it ended up being my very first post that got over 10 comments...I didn't know what to make of it and where all those people who commented came from! Boy was it funny...Active Rain Blogging 101 Preschool version at least my titles were … (33 comments)

active rain: 1st day at Mid-Year in DC - 05/12/08 08:39 PM
I took an all day e-buyer class today at the Mid Year meetings in DC.
The class was taught by fellow Active Rainers Amy Chorew and Melanie McLane. This was a debut of the all newly re-vamped class.
While it was hard to sit in a class all day long, I really enjoyed it. And yes, I walked away feeling that the day was well spent and that I learned something.
The class was sponsored by REBAC and is one of the electives that can be taken to complete the ABR course requirements.
Active Rain was mentioned often in the class … (16 comments)

active rain: The biggest obstacle to climbing the Active Rain ladder to success - 05/06/08 12:46 AM
The biggest obstacle to climbing the ladder to success is weeding your way through the crowd at the bottom. I'm sure you've all heard that before but it is so very true.
Climbing the ladder to Active Rain success is not all that different and it is not hard once you push your way through that crowd hanging around on that first step.
In NH we currently have 513 members with only about 100 of them having posted a blog or two. The rest... the crowd at the bottom have done nothing but perhaps put up a profile. Some haven't even up … (127 comments)

active rain: Thanksgiving from my heart - 11/21/07 07:55 AM
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all...from our home to yours across the miles or right next door.
We hope your day is spent doing all those extra special things that makes Thanksgiving and true day of Thanks and Giving.
I've much to be thankful for...
Last year at this time my son had just been released from the hospital...it was touch and go for a long time and we didn't know if he'd live and if he did, would he ever walk again. Today he is a healthy young man, back working full time and yes...he can walk. We celebrated Marty being … (30 comments)

active rain: Some Active Rainers in person...how cool! - 11/14/07 07:23 PM
Today at the NAR trade show I met Active Rain member Jennifer Allan who had her own booth, then I met Kristal Kraft, Jay and Francy Thompson all at the Incredible agent blogger booth.
It was awesome to meet them in person!!! I felt like I knew Kristal and of course Jay as well.
What a feeling.
I've made arrangements to meet both Linda Davis and Kristal over at the Treasure Island Resort so that we can Cab-pool to the Palms for the big Active Rain event!
After my committee meeting I went to the NAR bloggers lounge to post about the meeting … (24 comments)

active rain: 110 posts and I didn't even know it!!! - 06/01/07 08:25 PM
Can I blow my own horn??
I passed 100 posts and never knew it! LOL I guess I was asleep at the wheel.  How exciting 110 posts in eight months!!!  Yippee!
Of course it's combined but it still counts...I hope anyway!   I'm sorry I don't have a special post to celebrate but I wanted to say that I truly love this place. As crazy as it gets at times. Dare I say that I don't get many featured :) posts (that was hard to type)...even combined but thats okay because I'm having a blast and learning so much just being here.

active rain: Power Of Active Rain- Patriotism Prevails over Protest - 04/22/07 03:45 PM
The Power of the RainLast week I wrote a little post about when hate came to my town. While it wasn't a featured Post...nor widely read by Rainers, it had a life of it's own.
My little post traveled, far and wide, beyond the borders of Hampstead, New Hampshire.  A college student in Newton, Mass. found it and sent the link home to her mother in Hampstead. A woman in Maine who read it, was really touched by it, felt compelled to let me know how it made her feel. She told me that she passed my words on to others … (44 comments)

active rain: Find an Audience and Obey the On-Line Rules of the Road - 01/26/07 08:10 PM
Find your audience...and obey the Online Rules of the Road Review #5 Of The Weblog Handbook by Rebecca Blood
Chapter 5  starts with how to go about Finding an audience. I was pretty excited about reading this chapter as I think many new bloggers and even experienced bloggers can relate to this....we all want to be heard ...or better yet be read and understood...feel like we're connecting.  Somehow knowing someone is listening validates us as bloggers...it's human nature I think to measure ourselves against the praise or acceptance we receive from others. Blogging is the perfect platform to achieve that. Chapter … (47 comments)

active rain: Active Rain Connecting Us Through the Rain Forest - 12/04/06 05:30 PM
I'm sure you've all heard the phrase "What a Small World it is" well let me tell what a small world it really is. I got a surprise phone call from Colleen Kulikowski     just to chat and offer her help if ever needed!  She could tell that I am a major newbie to blogging with a ton of questions!!! To say I was surprised would be an understatement.  Thank you so much Colleen for the very warm welcome. We ended up talking for nearly an hour...I know your thinking I'm going to say that we ended up being long … (17 comments)
