hampstead nh: Happy Holidays - 12/21/08 08:50 AM
December so far has been a very challenging month for us.
We spent eight days without power in the cold during a terrible Killer Ice Storm that crippled the state. In fact today, 10 full days after that storm there are still many New Hampshire people without power.
It's amazing that something like that can happen in the year 2008...that people can freeze to death in their homes!
It also makes you realize what is important and puts a lot of life's day to day stresses in perspective.
In that light I say simply to all of you... May the … (16 comments)

hampstead nh: Thinking of moving to Hampstead New Hampshire? - 07/17/08 08:30 AM

Welcome to Hampstead New Hampshire.
I think once you see what we have to offer, you'll fall in love with New Hampshire and Hampstead in particular. I hope that I can help you "see and feel" a little of what I see and feel about Hampstead.
Let me tell you a little about Hampstead but before I begin my tale I must confess I am extremely biased towards Hampstead. I have lived in Hampstead since 1972 and watched as the town has grown from a small village to bustling little community. Yet even with all the conveniences of a much … (7 comments)

hampstead nh: America's Stonehenge offers more than a mystery hill experience - 02/24/08 01:19 AM
When I was a little kid growing up in Salem New Hampshire there was a place called Mystery Hill Caves. Mystery Hill drew the attention of us kids in a magical scary way. We went out of our way to talk about or should I say invent scary Mystery hill stories. I loved the place and lived within walking distance.
Mystery Hill was known to be a cool maze of man-made chambers, walls and ceremonial meeting places. Ceremonial meeting places...sacrifice chambers is what we called them.
At night the place was pretty spooky but by day it was a fun place … (16 comments)

hampstead nh: Bean Towne Coffee shop giving away fuel!!!! - 02/16/08 01:09 AM
Hampstead New Hampshire’s BeanTowne does it again.
A while back we wrote about a New Bean in Town called BeanTowne and met with the owner, Ed Goyette.
Ed talked to us about his goal of partnering with the community and how important the community was to him.
Since that time we’ve seen just how true to his word Ed is. Throughout the year he has sponsored many fund raising events, donated his time and resources and continually impacted the community and made BeanTowne a community event in itself.
Now he has done something unheard of! Check it out here...BeanTowne does it … (7 comments)

hampstead nh: Hampstead New Hampshire major waterfront decison - 02/02/08 01:44 PM
Hampstead, New Hampshire Lake front property owners win a giant battle against the town. In case you missed this piece of news, a yearlong battle regarding year round status was recently decided at the Rockingham County Superior Court.
The case involved a local couple trying to sell their shore front properties only to discover that the town of Hampstead had declared the properties as “seasonal”.
Seasonal, even though the tax assessment card, long used by REALTORS and residents alike, to help determine the status of a property made no reference to being seasonal. As a REALTOR one of the first things … (8 comments)

hampstead nh: Happy New Year…A New Hampshire housing recovery in 2008 - 01/02/08 08:28 AM
Happy New Year...A New Hampshire housing recovery in 2008...
Well maybe not a recovery but certainly a leveling off.
We’ve had an incredibly busy week here in Hampstead NH, both personally and professionally.
This past week alone we’ve written 3 purchase offers for buyer clients, had one home inspection and showed multiple properties to other customers. There are some awesome buys out there and the old saying ” he who hesitates loses” is so true.
I really can't remember ever being this busy in December.  On New Years day we even showed a condo and then wrote an offer on it...I think … (18 comments)

hampstead nh: Hampstead NH has a New Bean in Town!! - 12/07/07 01:43 AM
There’s a new Bean in town… and everybody’s talking about the new Bean in town.
So I decided to go visit the new bean in town called Bean Towne.
To say it is a coffees shop like none other which Hampstead and surrounding communities has seen before is an understatement.
Admittedly, I have always considered myself a coffee snob…but truly I had no idea.
For months I’ve been reading the cute little signs on Rte. 111 with clever sayings like “Friends don’t let friends dunk” and I’d always chuckle and think there’s a coffee war going on.
 I mean for years … (17 comments)

hampstead nh: Hampstead New Hampshire Parade...Safety before Candy - 11/25/07 11:00 PM
This time of year it’s hard to think of sad things and death but we must all be reminded of parade safety.
It’s a tradition at least in NH to have Holiday parades and Hampstead NH has long had an annual parade that the whole town seems to participate in. Colorful holiday characters march along side the floats all throwing candy to eager children, young and old, lining the road ways.
It’s a fun time and there is nothing as enjoyable as seeing those eager faces as they try to catch all the candy being tossed.  My children used to jump … (16 comments)

hampstead nh: The wicked gets whacked! - 10/31/07 01:27 PM
$11 million verdict Wednesday against a fundamentalist Kansas church  ....
Some of you may remember my blog post about when Hate came to my town of Hampstead New Hampshire and the impact that had on me and on my community.
To watch first hand as hate was directed to my community and it's people, in particular the family of one of our fallen war heroes captain Jonathan Grassbaugh was devastating.
I could not believe these people from a so called church in Kansas would come to my town and stand on my street corner carrying such hate filled signs and chanting such … (38 comments)

hampstead nh: Designated Agency in New Hampshire - 10/10/07 12:00 PM
Are you curious what Designated Agency will look like in New Hampshire?
Recently I wrote about the fact that on Wednesday Oct 17, the board of Directors of the New Hampshire Association of REALTORS will meet to vote on recommended proposed legislation which would if passed, pave the way for allowing NH REALTORS to act as Designated Agents or Facilitators.
Many agents no matter what level of experience, are confused about what Designated Agency really means and how it would shake out IF it gets approved in New Hampshire.
This is an important step and all of us should be informed … (4 comments)
