nh real estate blogs: Happy New Year…A New Hampshire housing recovery in 2008 - 01/02/08 04:28 PM
Happy New Year...A New Hampshire housing recovery in 2008...
Well maybe not a recovery but certainly a leveling off.
We’ve had an incredibly busy week here in Hampstead NH, both personally and professionally.
This past week alone we’ve written 3 purchase offers for buyer clients, had one home inspection and showed multiple properties to other customers. There are some awesome buys out there and the old saying ” he who hesitates loses” is so true.
I really can't remember ever being this busy in December.  On New Years day we even showed a condo and then wrote an offer on it...I think … (18 comments)

nh real estate blogs: More than a feeling.... - 11/30/07 07:12 PM
In my feed-reader today I found a tribute to Brad Delp...It was the first thing I saw this morning when I fired up my lap top and I just had to read it even though I knew it would be a difficult read and of course watch the video.
It made me feel sad and a bit melancholy...it was more than a feeling...it was something much deeper.
Memories, fond memories of a local rock band made big...a band called Boston...I felt a sadness that I wasn't sure I could shake at least not right away.
Brad Delp was the lead singer … (14 comments)

nh real estate blogs: Sandown NH Mothers Club needs your help... - 11/29/07 05:59 PM
One of the main fund raisers the Sandown NH Mothers Club runs each year is The Annual Toy Sale which is being held this Saturday.
In case you don't know who they are the Sandown mother's club is a group of mothers who participate in social activities and community service.
They do two main fund raisers (the Santa sale being one of them) in which they raise money to give to various charities and community programs.
They also have a section of Main street that they are responsible for cleaning throughout the year as well as participate in volunteer work in town.

nh real estate blogs: Thanksgiving from my heart - 11/21/07 07:55 AM
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all...from our home to yours across the miles or right next door.
We hope your day is spent doing all those extra special things that makes Thanksgiving and true day of Thanks and Giving.
I've much to be thankful for...
Last year at this time my son had just been released from the hospital...it was touch and go for a long time and we didn't know if he'd live and if he did, would he ever walk again. Today he is a healthy young man, back working full time and yes...he can walk. We celebrated Marty being … (30 comments)

nh real estate blogs: Kingston New Hampshire...A peak inside - 11/18/07 07:38 PM
I recently asked a Kingston local what it was that made the town of Kingston New Hampshire so special to her.
As a New Hampshire REALTOR and a New Hampshire Real Estate Blogger, I find it fascinating to talk to the local folks and get their take on their town.
Many times potential buyers ask questions about what it is like living in a town and what better than having someone who lives and knows the town intimately answer that question.
I have written about Kathy Radford and her art in the past. If you missed it you can read it … (10 comments)

nh real estate blogs: Vegas and NAR Bound - 11/12/07 05:03 PM
Tomorrow morning at 6:45 a.m. EST my plane leaves for Vegas. I'm excited and can't wait to get there. If you've never been to an NAR convention you don't know what you're missing.
This will be my 14th NAR convention but it will be my first one with a planned AR get together. So this convention will be extra special.
I'll be staying at the Venetian which is the head quarters hotel. Staying there will make it easy for me to attend my committee meeting Professional Standards and sit through the Professional Development committee (Eduction) as an observer. I lucked out … (7 comments)

nh real estate blogs: Thank you Active Rain...my belated 100th post celebration! - 11/10/07 07:19 PM
Is there such a thing as blogging too much? Is less better? I've struggled with that question. This is my very belated 100th post celebration. I never thought I'd write 100 posts or have nearly 100,000 points. I'm a pretty slow blogger as it took me a year to get here.
While I've never been a frequent blogger, lately it seems as if I'm blogging more and more. I know I feel more comfortable and I've learned a lot being part of the Ladies of Rain Realty Blogging Book club.  Our book club  leader, cheerleader and inspiration was none other than TLW...aka … (30 comments)

nh real estate blogs: Prudential Verani Realty Coat Drive *Update* - 11/10/07 05:05 PM
We need your help!  Please check your closets...we need coats, hats, mittens, gloves and scarves!
It looks like it will be a cold winter in New Hampshire especially with the high cost of fuel.
It was mighty cold outside today and everyone needs to wear a coat to stay warm. Do you have one to spare..one you've outgrown or your children have?
Our 6th annual coat drive is well underway but our numbers are low and our goal is high.
10,000 Coats...a pretty high goal for sure but we can do it!
It looks like the Kingston office is in the lead with … (4 comments)

nh real estate blogs: REALTOR Ethics Workshop... - 11/09/07 07:47 AM
This has been a busy week training wise for me. I was hired to conduct the Vermont Association of REALTORS Ethics workshop held this past Tuesday.
It was a 6 hour training session geared to those REALTORS who serve on the Grievance and the Professional Standards committee and board of directors. It is required training so most of the attendees "had" to be there. A forced group of participants is always a challenge. My goal was to make them want to be there and do it quickly. I think I succeed!
The morning included an interactive cycle two Quadrennial Ethics class … (5 comments)

nh real estate blogs: A new road-virgin territory and a clueless GPS - 11/08/07 08:44 PM
This morning as I drove to Windham to teach the new member ethics orientation class for the Granite State South Board of REALTORS, I was pretty excited. Was it open? I kept wondering about the new 111 bypass.
It has been a project in the works for a few years and planned for many more.
Would it finally be open?
It was supposed to open on Monday but it wasn't.
When I left on Monday to go to Vermont I purposely drove that way so I could experience the new road...it wasn't open even though the newspaper said it would be. … (10 comments)

nh real estate blogs: One Year of Blogging - 11/03/07 01:37 PM
A blogaholic I am!
I've learned so much from blogging and reading all the posts...especially since the day Ann Cummings turned us on to AR...Thank you Ann!
My much better half Jay wrote a post today about our one year anniversary of blogging. Poor Jay he had no idea what he was getting into the day he uploaded that photo for me.
I remember writing that first post over on Realtown blogs...no one read it but my sweet husband Jay.  Today I decided to go find it to see how my writing has changed over the year. I couldn't remember what I … (49 comments)

nh real estate blogs: The wicked gets whacked! - 10/31/07 08:27 PM
$11 million verdict Wednesday against a fundamentalist Kansas church  ....
Some of you may remember my blog post about when Hate came to my town of Hampstead New Hampshire and the impact that had on me and on my community.
To watch first hand as hate was directed to my community and it's people, in particular the family of one of our fallen war heroes captain Jonathan Grassbaugh was devastating.
I could not believe these people from a so called church in Kansas would come to my town and stand on my street corner carrying such hate filled signs and chanting such … (38 comments)

nh real estate blogs: Spooky Thrills and Yummy Candy - 10/30/07 11:36 AM
I wish I was still a little kid because I absolutely love Halloween!
I love watching the little kids walk up the driveway...listening to them laugh in excitement.
I remember spending hours sorting through candy when my kids were little...sometimes sneaking my favorite pieces of candy out of their bags. LOL...sometimes I got caught doing it and my sons, Marty and Mikey would make a big deal out of mom stealing their precious candy.
I used to dress up to hand out candy...Scare all the kids who rang my doorbell. It was a blast!
I never worried about poison or bad people … (15 comments)

nh real estate blogs: On-Line FEMA Map - 10/29/07 09:52 PM
This is pretty neat and not just for buyers and sellers but for agents as well.
Curious about where your property is in relation to the FEMA map? I’m not going to go out on a limb and say this is 100% accurate but it is pretty close.
Since this is the government FEMA site…if you are listed in a flood zone you’d be better off knowing about it now. Or maybe you want to look up that home you’re thinking about buying. In any case this is a cool tool and it’s free!
Check out the FEMA Maps online. You can zoom … (12 comments)

nh real estate blogs: NH Real Estate Rapist Appeal Denied!!! - 10/28/07 09:21 PM
The New Hampshire Supreme court has rejected an appeal by the man known as the “New Hampshire real estate rapist”
The traveling salesman from Maine was convicted this past May. He apparently posed as a home buyer…gained entry and then raped a 19 year old woman by knife point. This story has sent chills up spines of many real estate agents and is one anyone considering selling their home on their own should be aware of. I’m not trying to scare anyone but you should all be aware  that something like this can happen.
Read my original post about it here … (14 comments)

nh real estate blogs: Podcasting...the first time - 10/22/07 07:21 PM
A small step for mankind but a huge step for me and Jay (since he is doing all the behind the scenes technological stuff)....I did my first ever podcast.
I know it's no big deal and just a silly little message but I feel like I won a trip to Hawaii...or something cool like that.
We couldn't post it on a separate tab on the blog...at least not yet, so it's listed under the 'pages' heading. Problem is it really doesn't show up much there. But maybe that's okay because I do sound a little funny.
How come when we hear … (22 comments)

nh real estate blogs: Salem NH frightful frights!!! - 10/21/07 12:10 PM
Salem NH is home to one pretty disgusting fright sight!
The haunted mansion at Victorian Park and the Forbidden Forest are sure to test your ability to stay calm and not let your inner fears take over.
They claim that this years "frightmare" has more twists, turns and torment than ever before. Sounds frightful!
This is their 13th season of hauntings and this year they have 40 live actors bringing to life a very "intimidating and eerie environment" all for your...enjoyment LOL!
I love all the Halloween frights ...but this one is truly SCARY!
Freak your self out with haunts like the … (8 comments)
