 I went out to the resovoir here in Boyds tonight on the other side of Black Hill State Park. The location is right below the parking lot at the small boat ramp off route 121 a quarter mile from Clopper Road on the right hand side. At about 7:00 PM I casted my first Yum Yum, Ribbon Tale worm in the "Tequila Sunrise" color. Which is a purplish, pinkish iridescent worm that has great action. It is eight inches long. I Texas rigged it with a tiny bullet sinker. It took about ten minutes of experimenting with different cadence when I started tugging a little harder and in rythm when I got my first hit and landed a 1.5 lb bass. He destroyed that worm so I decided to try a 6 inch watermellon seed, Zoom rubber lizard which is a translucent green with specs. I casted out as far to middle as I could and after about three tries, also with a strong tugging cadence, another similar size bass hit it pretty violently about 12 feet from shore. Lastly, I put back another Tequlilla Sunrise worm. I walked about 40 yards from where I was towards the back of the cove. I quickly nailed my last similar fish. I did also try an orange and grey, crayfish like rubber Yum Yum that did not garner any strikes after 10 casts. I have started walking about 50-100 feet from where I catch the bass to release them. I have heard a spooked fish can upset the rest of the bass around. It seemed to have worked because the first two fish where caught within feet of each other.
The temperature was in the mid to low eighties and the surface was very calm. That area of the lake is covered in hydrilla so go on top or covered up or you will get snagged and lose lures and bait.
