Northern Virginia's year to date real estate sales price is down from last year.

Last years average sales price was $537,339.00 and this years grand total is $482,197.00. Thats is a 10.26% decrease. Ive had several customers negotiate listing prices down but what happened to 3-6% being the popular percentages realtors liked to promote as an almost automatic decrease when submitting an offer.

Are we going to continue to dip or will the election or other factors help bring us back into a place where values start to increase again?

Arlington Animal Shelter - AWLA - Dog Rescue!

On my way home from the kickboxing class at LA Boxing this morning, I was sitting at the red light of Washington Blvd and N. Highland Street when all of a sudden - a Beagle starts running across the intersection!! Luckily, I was the passenger in the car, so I ran into the middle of the street and grabbed the little guy and brought him to safety of the sidewalk! That's quite a bit of excitement at 745 am on a Friday!

It turns out, this little rascal is an 8 year old, male Beagle named Thomas...and this is his 2nd escape! I brought Thomas back to the Arlington Animal Shelter (they begin "receiving" animals at 8am, but visiting hours don't start until noon). I figured I would share with you information about the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA), just in case this ever happens to you! (That picture isn't Thomas, but a close look-alike!)

This year's 13th annual Columbia Pike Blues Festival will be held on Saturday, June 21st, from 1-8 pm at S. Walter Reed Dr. This year's lineup includes:

Average Day on the Market: 88 (up from 73 in 2007)
Total Units Sold: 1,724 (down about 5% from 2007)
Average May Sales Price: $478,672 (down about 13% from 2007)

To visit any of the number of pools that the Reston Association provides access to, any member from age 1 and up, must present a Pool Pass to gain access. Each pool has separate hours of operations, and dark days (days the facility is closed), so make sure you check the Pool Hours before you get your suit on!

Hours for the pools change from each session this summer:

Session 3: June 18 - August 17
Session 4: August 18 - September 1
