Houlton Maine Little League Games Have Started! Play Ball!

You know winter is over when you can throw on some shorts after your day job, run to the Houlton Community Park and climb on a bleacher to watch an exciting little league game.

The parents are great and not matter how tired you might have been that day because of adventures at work, it all disappears when you hear the crack of the bat and see an inside the park home run. Little league is exciting! Here is a link to Houlton Maine's little league for sponsors and game schedule/times. Commission Ben Drew has done a super job with getting this year's program underway with lots of support from fans, coaches, parents and players. Ben helped spear head the "Field Of Dreams" project for new fields needed due to increased popularity and scheduling conflicts for games and practices. The Houlton Rotary Club just present the little league group in Houlton Maine a check to show its support for helping area youth.

There is nothing like seeing a team in uniform at the local ice cream dairy bar laughing and eating a treat win or lose. Lot of life's lessons learned on the ball field. Games lost in extra innings, beating a team that actually had more talented players but not that night, hooping and hollering and seeing a kid excited because he helped his team with that pop up catch, or stealing home and striking out an entire inning of opposing players. It is apple pie, baseball and you pick the car make. Even the local radio station in Houlton Maine covers the game results and progress as the season gets underway. Moving And Relocating From Home To Home. Are You A Frequent Flyer?

As real estate brokers, we help in the moving and relocation process by locating and selling homes.
Personally, have you moved a few times in your own life or pretty much stayed within a few miles of your current home? The expression "air force brat" (or other armed services branch) is used proudly by some I deal with. I often ask if that 14 move childhood was good or bad and get a 50% return on the process being a positive thing. Some folks are more resilent to learn about new areas, others are a tad bitter because they were uprooted and had to start the make friends / enter a new school routinel over and over.
I grew up on a Maine farm for most of my life and can remember as a little guy the move from Franklin Avenune in Houlton to the farm. International pickup loaded high, I can see a tall lamp weaving back and forth in from the road and a little breeze as I looked back thru the oval window of the old pickup. Satie, our black tom cat is racing around the cab of that truck like a motor bike in a gyro ball. As the youngest of four boys, I remember feeling safe and secure and up for the adventure. The parents were excited, I had nothing to fear. No new schools, and had probably gotten a sales job on how much more room there would be out of town, etc. from my parents around the kitchen table to alleviate any fears or trepidations.
My great Aunt Hettie was moving in from the farm to our Franklin Ave home so the move seemed to fit. Dad and Mom were already farming the patch of dirt prior to the actual musical houses with my Aunt anyway I deduced.
I marvel when you see folks that have ping ponged around the globe and have a rich history of places that they lived. Unlike a week's vacation to cram all the events and sites into seven days, a relocation for a few years is like a working vacation. Are you a wanderer or stay in one place home body? Any regrets?

In rural America in spots like Northern Maine's Aroostook County, agents do more than just houses and homes.
Residential sales are a big staple but land, small mom and pop groceries type businesses, multi units and vacant land are big components of the real estate picture. So much of what the REALTOR and other organizations do is pound away at homes, houses, residences for sale. But in "Vacationland" land sales are a huge part of what a general real estate broker handles in their day to day. Waterfront lots, farm land for homesteaders and back to nature hobby farmers, building sites, small business enterprises and commerical development land are all part of the mix. Maybe rural states where there is more land and open space and homes are not built in models of large sprawling subdivisions, the term REALTOR means more than house, house, house. The national organizations would be well served to add to the media mix 30 second spots thrown into the station's Run Of Schedule (ROS rotation) a little higher concentration of small businesses, vacant acreage, development land, waterfront and vacation properties. Secondary targets are out there to develop and market to especially in rural states where there is space, safety and plenty of inventory. Any low cost real estate has appeal and a broad market to cater too. There are more and more folks in these uncertain times that just like owning affordable real estate in small town, community spirit rich areas on the outskirts of population centers. Slower paced, an escape plan from the hustle bustle either part or full time is a hunger REALTOR's can market too and feed in addition to their residential home-based local clients.

Weather is a drug...a good elixir for whatever ails you.
Maine had an old fashioned winter with record snowfall like many northern states. So as the sunshines, snow melts, locals are venturing out to rake lawns, walk at dusk, and to just be glad to be outside full time as season's change. Maine canoe races underway with plenty of water for spring paddling in canoes and kayaks. Plans for opening summer homes, taking school vacations with kids, building decks, washing down home exteriors, and general busy bee industry is evident thru out Maine. In Houlton, the local dairy bar just opened so you know little league games are not far behind either as ice get removed from the Milliar Civic Center too. Living in Maine and enjoying all four seasons is such a blessing. Blue blue skies, bright stars and fewer friendlier people with a real sense of community. That's Maine..the way life should be. And to top it all, Big Papi just hit a grand slam in yesterday's Red Sox win. Life is good in Red Sox Nation. Last year at this time, took the kids to a Red Sox series with the New York Yankees in Boston and watch a three game sweep of the pinstripes.
