If you read the ABC's of real estate books, the ones called "Real Estate For Dummies", etc you get down payment advice from a dollar to the entire purchase price as options. The entire amount in cash would be a dramatic statement to make in a multiple offer situation to say "pick me pick me" as a real stand out buyer. To say traditionally it is always this or that amount does not reflect the different elements of every real estate transaction. Like people, transactions are different.
