moving to maine: The Maine Real Estate Buyer From Bryant Pond Area Whines New Transplants Complain About His Cows, Farm Animals. - 09/15/11 09:49 AM
The farming community in Southern Maine may be too close to the Boston Massachusetts real estate buyer.
And those areas of Maine may get flooded with real estate buyers who are attracted to farming, rural areas for their property listing purchase.
But then the fun starts when they get on planning boards, serving on local groups to crank up the spending for unneeded items.
The philosophy that we need a 7.2 million dollar Maine muncipal building for police, fire, administration makes me wonder what about putting a $100,000 for new handicap access, a front face lift and new lobby and call … (0 comments)

moving to maine: New York City Real Estate Buyers Say The Same Old Record We Hear Daily. - 03/22/10 10:37 AM
Here's the property song playing daily.."I want to minimalize..scale it back and simplify my life." "Where I live now is way way too crowded and Maine looks like a good shot to get away from the hub bub." Over and over, get me something I can own out right, that has a smaller square footage, no mortgage.
The folks are over fifty and the illnesses their parents had for health problems make them think the kids are looking at the same train wreck health wise unless they start a healthier, simple living.
Have you thought about strip away … (5 comments)

moving to maine: Your Tax Accountant Stratches His Head, Leans Back, Stretches. Your Income Is Big. - 02/13/10 09:42 AM
You see a lot of money come in, go out. Go thru your fingers like designer water. Where you live in a city, urban area the money is good but where did it go? Do you feel like you "live in a sieve"? At the end of the year, when you huddle over a desk with the bean counter with a calculator whirling and your box of financial records, receipts and statements, you remember the same feeling from last year right about now. Your taxes and the lifestyle, the spending, the bracket you are in income wise can be a sobering … (2 comments)

moving to maine: Did Your Parents Drive You, Neglect You, Push You To Go Over The Top To Succeed Or Else? - 01/27/10 07:19 AM
Your best growing up. Was it good enough for your parents? Were your parents even in the picture? What makes you tick? Did a blog on health care reform and the need for taking a front end preventative illness approach early on. Rather than last minute million dollar try to save the patient maneuvers in our nation's hospitals. We fix the symptoms, rather than head them off at the pass early on in health class, living by example. Our kids watch us, copy us. And if pulling in to a fast food venue on two wheels and racing to the … (4 comments)

moving to maine: (Drumming Side Of Coffee Can Filled With Grain) Here Sirloin, Rump Roast...You Too London Broil. - 12/17/09 07:49 AM
You used to work in corporate America. Driven, obsessed, the top of your game. A tiger in your profession. Well known, intense, consumed. But as you approach the half century club on your birth certificate, you decide to downshift your life. To slow it down and change the scnery 180 degrees. Your brother Bob thought you were crazy when you first brought up the subject of selling out, moving to Northern Maine to own a patch of dirt.
A farm that was pretty much self sufficiency living, self sustaining. Or as close to that goal as you could get. … (3 comments)

Relaxing..do you know how? Is there time? Is it not possible because of a "to do" list that extends to your toes because you get a kick from being a way way over achiever? Or is everything out of control and you don't know how you got in this tail spin, what caused this life vertigo? What's your point?
What are you waiting for to slow down the life conveyor belt or to stop it altogether? A stroke, a heart attack? A winning lottery ticket? Or are you so busy you don't think of the bigger picture..have not taken … (5 comments)

moving to maine: As A Kid, How Did You Learn The World Is Not Flat And How The Rest Of The World Lives? - 02/18/09 05:32 PM
Air force brats just get used to an area, make friends and then its time to move to another base. As a kid my dad was a Maine potato farmer and had eight trucks that hauled those spuds to market in the cities of Boston, Hartfort and New York. So I learned the world was not flat by going on truck trips at the age of 10 and seeing the markets of these cities. My parents took my three older brothers to Winter Carnival in Quebec and we rented many places on the Maine coast for a family vacation. They … (3 comments)

moving to maine: "Glad Maine Is Up Here In The Right Hand Upper Corner Of The World" Video! - 12/04/07 05:35 PM

Found a video on You Tube that says it all without words...simple approach showing what is happening to many parts of the country due to our appetite for energy.  To the point of forgetting what life is all about and that the best things in life don't need a gizzillion dollars paid to a foreign country for precious energy. Ever thought about a simpler life in reducing, reusing and getting  sane about the out flow of cash you worked so hard to tuck away for security, retirement  and a rainy day?  Like I said, glad Maine is off the beaten … (5 comments)
