After the fur is done flying over the 60 Minutes piece what are we left with? What has really changed? Has Redfin "revolutionized" real estate? Well if offering rebates on commission is considered revolutionary count me among the witnesses. With 6, soon to be 8 markets, I think there is some time before everyone that's not Redfin is out on the sidewalk with their hat in their hand. But really, after the complaining of how UNFAIR it all was, it all is - what are YOU going to change? In all of the complaints and defense I heard a favorite refrain. It seems

60 minutes: More on 60 Minutes - My Two Cents - 05/14/07 01:41 AM
The Real Estate blogosphere is busy buzzing about the 60 Minutes piece on the 6% commission and Redfin's assault on the commission's of Realtors. I was unable to catch the full piece, but saw the 13 minute clip up on 60 Minutes' web site. Here are my thoughts on the piece: Realtors, for the most part, are way over paid the majority of the time they sell a home. While an agent typically doesn't get 6%, they usually get 3%. That is usually too much for what they do. They should be paid less. Home prices have skyrocketed, commissions should come down. While most Realtors won't
