While changes in sales data from the first Quarter of 2012 seem minor, they are significant. Sales of single family homes have steadily increased in Southern Shores since December 2012 and are selling with an higher overall average price than during the same period last year. Although the number of vacant lot sales remains similar to last year, the average selling price has risen. Overall, the Median Sale Price for both houses and home sites has increased 6% and .7% respectively.

Like many people across the country, we have been experiencing cold, dreary weather this winter. For the Outer Banks, this is outside the usual and expected, causing all greetings to begin with "Can you believe how cold (or wet or windy) it is. When is it going to warm up". OK, we know we cannot control the weather. Heck, even the weather people on TV rarely get it right. Here is a simple way to recycle those magazines you have hanging around the house. While looking for recycled gift items last December at the Kill Devil Hills Artist Cooperative I found these lovely bows you see here. Apparently these bows are made from very colorful strips of magazine paper and, because the paper is shiny and bright, the result is truly artistically pleasing! I used them on gifts wrapped in newspaper for the total recycled effect which was a big wow with family and friends! Hey, it beats trying to recycle that coated paper. Try it!
