Most of us are aware of Senator Chris Dodd's pro-FHA reform stance. He has promised to make it a priority when Congress gets back in session in the coming weeks. With HR1852 already through committee in the house and a lot of political talk being circulated on the subject of FHA modernization, it looks like some sort of legislation is more imminent than ever. I personally have been amazed at the sheer amount of press that the subprime fallout and the housing market continues to get on a daily basis. Not that it isn't big news when defaults continue to rise on

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) spoksperson reasserted yesterday that the NAR firmly believes that a reformed Federal Housing Administration (FHA) loan program would be a stabilizing factor for the home market, and subsequently our economy. Iona Harrison said as much yesterday in a statement that included: "Now is the time the country needs FHA. As subprime loans reset and real estate markets have cooled, a reformed FHA would be perfectly positioned to offer borrowers a safer mortgage alternative and help bring stability to local markets and local economies."
