Foreclosures Fall In Bay Area screamed the headline in our local newspaper.
The article reported that Notices of Default – the first step in the California foreclosure process – fell more than 9% from March in Santa Clara County, 24% in San Mateo County, 21 % in Contra Costa County and 25% in Alameda County.
I read the news story the same day that I read the Active Rain post of Joe Manausa, a Tallahassee, Fla. Realtor in which he reports on the escalating number of Foreclosures in his area. I am reminded again that real estate is local.

I am re-blogging this excellent information from Jessica Sulliman. Some of the largest mortgage holders are finally figuring out what we have been telling them for several years. It makes more sense to allow borrowers to short sale then it does to foreclose. Faster and cheaper for the lenders. Less of an adverse credit impact for the debtor. The home seller can become a home owner again sooner with a short sale than with a foreclosure on their record.

Are Realtors interchangeable, all the same, equal clones?
 
I got a phone call about one of our listings. The caller drove by the house, saw the sign with our toll free number and my phone rang. He wanted information about the house.
 
I provided the information to him. The house is Pending and escrow is expected to close next week. I asked him if he is working with an agent in the hope that we might be able to establish a working relationship.
