Clark's Trading Post Fall Hours & Entertainment
Clark's Trading Post will be open for entertainment mid-week, Monday - Friday from 11:30AM - 2:30PM. A single bear show at 1:00PM is followed by a 1:30PM trainride on the White Mountain Central Railroad. Food Service, Museums and the Maple Cabin will also be operating. Tickets $13.00 ages 6 and up. Ages 3-5, $5.00. Under three they're free. The Main Gift Shop is open daily from 9:00AM - 4:00PM. Weekends thru Columbus Day Monday a full schedule will be on. White Mountain Wednesday...Covered bridges of the North Country.

                 I drove through the Blair Bridge in Campton and snapped the shot below mid-way through.

     This is one of the longest covered bridges in the area at just under 300 feet.  
 

    The second time I crossed a covered bridge today was to get to the next hole on the golf course.

  I love the Red color of the Ivy growing up this Poplar tree...Chip and a put away.

As I look across the street these trees struck me as being out of order...not the normal before and after shot. Nature has it's own way of changing the order of things it doesn't always conform to what we expect.

Driftwood the force of a white mountain river the roots are tested - 09/22/10 07:39 PM
I came across this piece of drift-root. The forces must have been huge to plunge whats left of this century old root ball 30 feet above the river and 50 feet back into the woods. This root is about 20 feet across.

The interesting part came upon further examination. You see there are several rocks embedded in the root, they have a strange hold on bolling ball size boulders. This tree didn't give in to the river easily, it fought to stay on the ground it called home. Now all that is left is the root carcass dried, bleached, and … (16 comments)

8:30am...The view from my bedroom Window. Sorry about the continued pond construction, 3 years of digging but someday the landscaping will be done. I often feel like one of the cobblers children...all the tools at my disposal and I can't get my own construction wrapped up. Golf side foliage and chased by a moose...tonight. - 09/21/10 09:29 PM
It's getting dark too early I couldn't complete 18 holes after work tonight...I was chased by a moose and got a bad shot of him, he way too far away by the time I found my camera I hope you can make him out it was pretty cool seeing a moose up really close. I did get some good shots of the beautiful leaves and the slow rolling river.

I get a kick out of the retailers who try to force consumers to buy early as if they will run out of inventory? I was in a local store over Labor day and they were putting out Halloween Candy...Really Come on!!

The last couple of years I have driven to one of my favorite look out points in the White Mountain National Forest stopped for a moment at 9:11 am on September 11th and sat quiet. I have never been to the site of the twin towers, the Pentagon or walked in a field in Pennsylvania, but I have often stood on Federal preservation land and contemplated this crazy world we live in.

Fall foliage is beginning to show it's color, and this shot of the Deer Park Lake and club house gives you some idea of the great common areas available for all the owners and tenant in this resort.

The same lake blanketed in white takes on a decidedly different feel, the mountain peaks in the back ground are a beautiful site from most of the available properties at deer Park.

Home sweet home with some interesting History...1889 the Woodstock Lumber Company.

 
I was able to buy my home-site 10 years ago from the retired chairman of the Marcal paper mills. We became friends I have helped him sell off some of his old mill properties...I was happy to recycle this site. It took a lot of flood plain engineering, permits for the DOT as I have frontage on an existing train track, and Wet lands permits due to the river frontage...but it was worth all the work.

Clearbrook Village at Loon Mountain Lincoln New Hampshire, across the street from the slopes means you have a south facing condominium with the best views of the ski slopes offered anywhere in the area.

I deliberately left the window trim in this photo so you can see I took the shot through the Living room glass.
 
 
Truth in advertising: the place is a bit tired, it is 25+ years old...It needs new carpet, and the furniture is mostly not worth keeping unless you were going to use the property for rentals. The owners have updated the heating system … (10 comments)

Wentworth is home to Plummer’s Ledge Natural Area and part of the White Mountain National Forest. It has a picturesque town common bordered with a Federal style church and antique homes. With abundant water power from the Baker River, Wentworth once had 9 sawmills; in 1856 during a flood the mills, homes, barns and roads were washed away and the river widened by 90 feet ending the river’s power.

Sugar Hill is New Hampshire’s youngest town, incorporated in 1962.  The name comes from the groves of Sugar Maples in the hills.  With panoramic views of both the White Mountains including the Presidential, Franconia and Kinsman ranges and Green Mountains the area became a fashionable Victorian resort destination.  The first resort based ski school in the US was opened there is 1929 by Kate Peckett and Sig Buchmayer, both important in the history of skiing.  Today is still has a number of fine restaurants, inns, original estates and incredible views.

September 1....a new season for all. - 09/01/10 09:56 PM
Kids are back to school, but the heat remains 94 in Northern NH today...what the hell. I was bent and determined to hit the river on such an Unusually hot Day in the Mountains.

My wife was off to some art classes out of state, our son with new car...graces us for food and shelter. Even though it was really warm for September 1st...I decided I was free and going to play golf.

There are some nice spots along the river that the golf course runs. I was here to play not swim, The wish was no swimming for … (7 comments)

Don't fall asleep at the wheel hire a Realtor - 09/01/10 08:42 AM
I played golf last night the course runs along the Pemigewasset river in Woodstock New Hampshire. I observed this canoe trying to navigate a series of rapids, but the woman in the front was attempting to do the paddling while the male passenger took a nap.  Apparently these folks miss the point of rowing together, in order to be effective the person in the back of the boat has to steer or you'll go in circles. If you are not going to work together you are better off going it alone.
