Early November signals a change of the clocks and the firing up of snow guns at the ski resorts. Only a few weeks ago we were watching the transition of foliage to frost. It truly happens over night...colorful trees one day and snow the next.

Lafayette and Liberty - are over 5,000 and just under 5,000 feet above sea leave...and are part of the Franconia Notch State park , where you will find the state owned Cannon Mountain ski area.

The permitting process has been a bit of a battle, but when it hit 95 yesterday having a pond was worth all the engineering costs. My site work contractor has been digging for four years (not a typo -four years). The work has not been continuous as digging has been on an as needed basis. When a project needed fill, gravel or loam the equipment would show up and dig furiously for a week or two...only to disappear for months at a time.

My wife Vonni and I timed our day off this week perfectly. It was a Spectacular Blue Sky day and St. Patrick's Day as well. My wife is a bit slower than me, so we took our time and stopped a lot. There are a variety of great lodges to grab a meal or snag a Adirondack chairs facing the up hill view of skiers come down the North Peak side of Loon.
Someone had left this little guy with the beads at Camp III One of the best sunning spots on the slopes.

Things are about to get a lot busier in my neighborhood...we get a surge of Vacationers and second home owners when the February school vacation weeks hit (Presidents day- week for Massachusetts and the week after for other New England States). My last chance to ski for a couple of weeks - fell on a gray sky day.

These white mountains are living up to their name this week. 24 inches in 5 days. View from the Top of Cruiser ski trail on the South mountain side of Loon mountain ski area in Lincoln New Hampshire.

With 17 new inches on Tuesday and 7 more last night...we're up 24 inches this week alone. The Lincoln Express chair lift is located on the South mountain side of Loon ski resort, where we have built 12 new slope side homes.

Realtors and developers whose main income stems from discretionary vacation home sales are in for some tough times.
 
The baby boomer market (our target) has lost 30-40% of their wealth in the last 6 months.
