steve loynd nh realtor: Decorate with green, and bring life to your home. - 06/27/12 05:56 AM
As we all grew into adulthood and got our first “place”, there were several ubiquitous things that appeared in our décor. One item was a bookshelf made of wood planks supported by cinderblocks, and the other was a plant; the larger the better to fill in the empty spaces. Fast forward to your life now. Your décor is probably a bit more sophisticated, but are there any plants in it? I’m not referring to the pathetic philodendron plant you have stashed in the corner. I’m thinking about something more dramatic; say, a palm tree or a banana plant about 6’-8’tall! (19 comments)
steve loynd nh realtor: Never shake a hand..when a hug is offered. - 06/26/12 06:26 AM
My 19 year old son had a couple of buddies spend the night...as I left for work this morning Conor and I said our have a great day ritual goodbyes. We hug and say I love you with direct eye contact. One of his friends standing near by looked at me and said my family never does that (for which I'm sorry...I love my family and everyone else my life overlaps with). Are you a touchy- feely Realtor? I want clients to feel "that close" when we have worked together. It's just business..I've heard from many agents. Not for me, (55 comments)
steve loynd nh realtor: Spectacular Sunsets in the White Mountains of New Hampshire - 06/25/12 04:03 PM
Many of my close friends and blog followers know I love to take photographs and enjoy sharing them with folks that appreciate the time and timing of getting just the right shot. Sunsets are certainly some of my favorite subjects. It often takes a bit of patience to get the light just right...a glass of wine help with the waiting.
I took this shot a couple of nights ago, it looks like something from out of Africa...would you believe New Hampshire.
Back in January the colors were incredible...winter is not usually this vivid - but this night was.
Mirror lake Woodstock New Hampshire, a unique property for the right person. This is the Perfect home for an Ecologist wishing to own lakefront property that abuts - forest service research land. The lake doesn’t allow power boats and is monitored scientifically for a number of chemical substances entering the eco-system. There are very few homes on Mirror lake the vast majority of the waterfront is controlled by the U.S. forestry service and the science foundation that conducts a variety of experiments there. The property that is for sale once owned much of the protected land as the prior owner (10 comments)
New Hampshire’s extreme weather diversity…it never gets boring when it comes to the changing seasons in the Granite State. In fact we can have multiple seasons on the same day – often just a few miles apart.
Today was one of those strange days…I have Iris blooming in my yard, and about 50 miles away at the top of Mount Washington (summit 6,300 feet) the weather observation towers had to be cleared of snow.
The kayaks were enjoying the swelling rivers, while golfers where dodging rain drops to get a round in. So while some in the lakes (11 comments)

I remember growing up playing street hockey; it was nearly a full time job. We didn’t have store bought nets, no ours were made of 2 X 4’s and chicken wire fences. When a vehicle of any kind approached a cry went up “CAR” – it took two kids to half drag half carry a net to the side of the road. Then right back to the dead center of the street it would go, when the car passed – GAME ON. These were glorious times – no eye protection, (15 comments)

There is no secret that sophisticated travelers enjoy luxurious travel, and many choose to bring the interior design ideas home so they can enjoy the same comforts every day. I particularly enjoy the bathrooms that I've encountered in the various hotels, as many incorporate features that we don't pamper ourselves with at home. Here are some of my favorite designs for your dreaming pleasure. Spa baths provide relaxation from your hectic lifestyle, and can be incorporated into your home with careful planning. Plumbing fixtures add a sculptural element (11 comments)
..In a -Huffington Post Article.. I found interesting. It's that time of year. High school seniors are getting advice from teachers, friends and family to determine which college they will attend. For many, evaluating potential college choices involves the criteria, "Can I ski/snowboard while I'm there?" Many add, "... a lot?" to that question, which narrows the field considerably. ESPN.com recently wrote an article entitled, The 10 best colleges in the U.S. for people who live to ski. The list (8 comments)

The snow in the Hemlock required a quick cross country spin this Morning before getting ready for a full day of real estate appointments at Loon Mountain today. Let's face it, we spend a great deal of time in our kitchens, and most of us can't remodel our kitchens every few years. So how do we freshen up one of the most used rooms in the house without breaking the bank? Redoing the kitchen doesn't always mean removing all of the cabinets, reworking the layout and purchasing an entirely new kitchen.
As with other areas of home decor, kitchen designers are pushing the envelope and being very creative with mixing various cabinet styles and colors. (10 comments)
The squeaky wheel gets the grease; the quiet ones get no attention at all.
While rummaging through my basement I came across a box of stuff that hadn’t been unpacked since moving to the “new” house seven years ago. I found a shoe repair ticket that was nine years old. Figuring that I had nothing to lose. I went to the shop and presented the ticket to the proprietor. He reluctantly began a search for the unclaimed shoes. After ten minutes, the shop owner reappeared and handed me back the ticket. “Well” I asked, “did you find the shoes?” (7 comments)
