steve loynd skiing realtor: The Rugged Beauty in New Hampshire's White mountains "CANNON SKI AREA"

Cannon Mountain - Rugged Beauty in New Hampshire's White Mountains. One of the first Canadian clippers arrived last night. I awoke to a light snow coming down, the weatherman said to watch for accumulations above 1,500 feet elevation...which is everywhere near my home. The white Mountain peaks that are above 4,000 feet got a good dowsing of the white stuff - enough to see from a distance. Most of my winter seasonal rental start this weekend, and the few that did decide to come up for their first weekend were treated to some pretty snow fall. I can almost guarantee there (3 comments)

Let me share today’s Skiing Experience; when you don’t have any snow left in your yard don’t count the mountain out just Yet!! This is my favorite time of the year to strap on the boards. While the Monsoon rains hit most of New England Last Week above the 1,500 foot elevation mark…Loon Mountain receives 35 inches of new snow. How can I tell, look at the Photo I took of the lift line? This terrain was cut for the chair lift and is not a groomed trail or a location they have any reason to make the man-made stuff. (11 comments)
Developer has learned to keep it simple…stupid. Fancy is out, smart and simple is in, this developer has figured it out. Vinyl siding isn’t sexy but it’s smart, low cost of maintenance and in a condo project upkeep is minimal. People say they want a wood burning fireplace until they find out what it cost to build, and how much work it takes to buy the wood, build the fire and wait until it goes out before you can vacate for the day (or Week). Gas fireplaces look great and they are on –or- off at a flip of a (9 comments)

The northeast is getting some serious snow fall...unlike my friends on the sea coast, it never changed over to rain. It started as snow and kept on going. Here are couple of Snow fall shots looking north towards Loon and Cannon Mountain Ski areas...the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Loon opens Friday 12/11 and Cannon opened Monday, Bretton Woods has been open since the end of November.
Just after the first round of snow fall...it cleared briefly...before cranking up again.
I'll have to do some shoveling if the grill is going to be used again this year (or winter (20 comments)

Realtors: how many times have you had a custom say they would buy right now if you had just what I was looking for? You mean, A new construction home, with views, no neighbors on over five acres, where you can't hear any traffic sounds and you have access to some water...at a bargain price? The White Mountains National Forest is in your back yard, no homes in sight in any direction, but golf, skiing and rivers are moments away? Have a look at these photos of this contemporary home, built to last and low maintenance.
Ski and second home Resorts are not just for vacationers anymore.
In studies of per capita income by counties it was discovered that places like: Wyoming, Florida, Colorado and Nevada were ranked higher than the traditional business income hot spots like New York, Washington and San Francisco when it came to per capita income.
How can that be you may ask? In these places where wealthy visitors may have purchased a second home in the past, these locations have become their full time residents. One software company executive put it this way: if your clients are all over (9 comments)
Consumer Confidence and Second home sales. Realtors and developers whose main income stems from discretionary vacation home sales are in for some tough times.
The baby boomer market (our target) has lost 30-40% of their wealth in the last 6 months.
Sellers will need to face the facts that the prices will need to equalize in much the same fashion. To keep pace with consumer confidence second homes will need to return to pre- 1999 prices. If you purchased prior to 1999 you will come out whole, if not you may not wish to sell for the next (4 comments)
This is a view of Cannon Mountain Ski Slopes during the early fall. Echo Lake , several 4,000 foot hikes and access to the Appalachian Mountain Trail are all near by trail heads that intersect at this point in the Notch. New Hampshire State Park, abutting 900,000 acres on White Mountain National Forest come together at this great view site. This stone out cropping is called Artist Bluff and is an easy hike for young or old. For more resort (12 comments)

steve loynd skiing realtor: Radon in an upper unit what can you do?
- 03/30/08 01:49 AM
I had a person walk in my office off the street and pose a question yesterday. She had a contract on a Garden style condo which is a second floor unit, and it tested high for Radon. The association told her "sorry there has never been a problem there before". Well if the second floor was high what do you think the unit below is going to come in at. The problem is I'm sure the guy down stairs never tested, and since this woman isn't an owner yet does the association want to start something, when this buyer may never (17 comments)
