I believe some of the basic things you can do to stage your home effectively would include hiring a professional stager/decorator that can prvide useful tips and  guide you to a theme for your home.

Some of the things used may be re-texturizing tables or lamps.  Adding art work to be cohesive with a color theme.  Providing an inviting look with vinettes; providng light, color and texture.  These are done with small lamps in dark corners - say on a kitchen counter top - which then provides a focal point.

Decorative items should be purchased by the Seller and should still be useful in their new home.  This makes the money invested have a double impact.  Use fresh colorful towels, soaps, placemats & glassware to achieve the theme you are after.  These items can be purchased inexpensively at discount stores, liquidatior or even your local grochery/pharmacy store.

What are some of the things you feel would be attractive to you as a buyer when considering a new home?  What appeals to you?
