Pending Home Sales Number Rise for U.S. & Upstate South Carolina - 03/29/11 09:59 AM
The National Association of REALTORS® just released the Pending Home Sales numbers for February 2011 and it is good news for the real estate market and the U.S. economy. After falling in January 2011 from where they were in December 2010, this is a positive sign. Yet there are still "notable regional variations" in the NAR's words.

FHFA Home Price Index Down 0.3% - 03/24/11 08:47 AM
The Federal Housing Finance Agency’s monthly House Price Index was released the other day and it shows a very small decrease in the price of homes. After 3 months of increasing, the National Existing Homes Sales numbers decreased. I am sure all the negative people and the media will go nuts and start screaming double dip. On Monday, the NAR® released the news and I am going to have to say this is a perfect example of why real estate is local.

Just read a report that the number for foreclosure activity nationwide has dropped 14% from where it was in January. Which is good news for the nation and hopefully can give some people the confidence to take advantage of the low interest rates and affordability levels available today.
Buying real estate is never simple. Buying a foreclosure is even more complicated and the great deals do go quickly. If you are serious about getting a great deal on a home in Upstate South Carolina, then a foreclosure can be a great option.

South Carolina Unemployment Numbers Improve January 2011 - 03/11/11 09:16 AM
I just found the latest unemployment numbers for South Carolina. January was the 5th consecutive month of employment growth for South Carolina. This is different than the unemployment rate but these numbers also improved! Last month, the entire state of South Carolina had 10.9% unemployment but it improved to 10.5% in January 2011. Not much of an improvement but it is an improvement and every little step in the right direction is a good thing.

Nationally Pending Home Sales Decline But Increase in Upstate South Carolina - 03/01/11 09:40 AM
According to the National Association of Realtors®, the number of pending home sales is down slightly in January 2011. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this is the second straight month that the number of pending home sales has declined for the entire US. One good sign is that even though the numbers are lower, they are still 20.6% above the the extreme low point of June 2010.
The NAR® Pending Home Sales Index is a forward-looking indicator and is talking about contracts and not closings. There is a world of difference between being under contract … (2 comments)
