free: Free Heart Screenings in Anderson SC

AnMed Health is going to be offering free cardiovascular screenings to 200 people during a two-day StrokeScore event in Anderson. The event will be held Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. until noon each day. People will be checked for warning signs of stroke risk and peripheral artery disease. Registration is required in advance because space is limited so please call ASAP. The screenings will take place at the AnMed Health Women’s and Children’s Hospital on East Greenville Street. To register, call 864-512-2255.

free: Who Says There Are No Free Lunches Anymore?

I am glad to pass along the news that Free lunches will be offered to any child under the age of 18 this summer at Palmetto Elementary School in Williamston. This service is a great thing for those parents that might be in a bind during the summer making sure their kids get a good lunch while they are at work. I know that during the summer, I often got tired of peanut butter and jelly! We can at least be thankful that our tax dollars are being used for something good because the lunches are being made available under the Federal School … (0 comments)

I just found out that USA Today picked a couple of great spots in Oconee County as great FREE places to go to this summer! Stumphouse Tunnel and Issaqueena Falls in the Blue Ridge foothills make a cool destination for spending a hot summer day. The 1,600-foot tunnel, whose construction was cut short by the Civil War, was used in the '50s to cure blue cheese. Nearby, accessible Issaqueena Falls cascades 200 feet and comes with its own Indian maiden legend. But do not forget about the highest point in SC is close by at Sassafras Mountain in Pickens County.
