There is no doubt that low water levels on Hartwell Lake are an important consideration for anyone that is looking to buy a lake home. Some people that are not familiar with Hartwell may get confused about terms such as green zone or red zone. But I think everybody understands what we mean when we say Good Water. And isn't that what you want when buying real estate on Hartwell Lake?

Because of the current state of the economy and the changing attitudes about the importance of family and community, is it possible that while smaller homes are attractive to some buyers, there are certain buyers that would be in the market for a large home that could easily house a mulit-generational family?
Such as a home with multiple kitchens?
A large home with plenty of options for entertaining?
Such as a LARGE formal dining room?

It has been several months since I wrote about the Triple Crown Water Cross on lake hartwell. So just a friendly reminder that the Lake Hartwell Marketing Alliance is putting on the the Triple Crown Watercross, a personal watercraft racing tour! It is scheduled August 14-15, 2010.
This two day event will consist of personal watercrafts battling handle bar to handle bar on the lake’s typically quiet waters. The event will bring competitors one step closer in determining who will become the next national winner of the UWP-IJSBA Watercross National Championship. I just read an interesting article over at the Lake Hartwell Association website about the possibility of lower water levels for Hartwell. Everyone has been enjoying this summer on Hartwell Lake, especially since the lake has been above the full elevation of 660 ft for 157 days in the first 6 months of 2010. With the scorching temps we have seen this summer, and combined with the lower rainfall, this may change soon. Broadway Lake
Broadway Lake is a 300 acre lake on Broadway Creek in Anderson County in Upstate South Carolina. It is a small lake, not really the lake for a cigarette boat like Hartwell Lake but it is quiet and the water levels are usually higher.
You can find Catfish, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Striped Bass and if you believe the news stories that ran in the summer of 2008 there was a gator! But then again if you Google Broadway Lake you will also find a story about a UFO over Broadway lake too! Read more about Broadway Lake SC

While "Procrastinate Now!" might be a humorous title for this entry, it will not be a laughing matter for the owners of Hartwell Lake properties on January 1st!
You see any Hartwell Lake shoreline permit holders who have a permit that was issued more than one year ago and have not installed a dock by Jan. 1, 2010, will forfeit the dock portion of their permit!
If the property owner fails to install the dock by the deadline, then they will lose the boat dock portion of the shoreline use permit for six months.

SC's May Unemployment
South Carolina's unemployment rate rose to 12.1 percent in May, the S.C. Employment Security Commission reported. That's the highest jobless rate on record. And it makes me wonder if the reports I saw last night on TV about the possible end to the recession are a bit premature.
South Carolina and Rhode Island tied for the nation's third-highest unemployment rate. So what do we need to do to get the ball rolling for employment numbers in SC to improve? Well not what Clemson is doing:
