One of my past clients (and friend) who has been in IT for several years has over the years given me(yes FREE) so many tips that has helped me keep my computers up and running(and very well I may add) for several years. I just joined this technology group here in AR and I just had to share it.

Crap Cleaner is one such free software that cleans all the “crap” that accumulates on your computer just from daily use ie.. tracking cookies, temp files, history etc. We’re (realtors) known for downloading information on a daily basis and after time it’ll slow down your machine. This is not the end all software fix but it has helped me immensely. Go to www.download.com and in the search bar put in crap cleaner. Scroll down to CCleaner 2.25.1025 . I use it every day after a busy day at work. Try it you may like it.

Horrific Acts of violence at Ft Hood Army Base in Texas.

12 dead over 30 wounded and one shooter dead and the other 2 in custody. Sounds like something in a war zone? Yes it does. But no it happened here on our soil in Texas. I don't know the particulars but anything so gruesome cannot have a good ending.

My younger brother has done 3 tours (why do they use the word tour?) and he's still in one piece. I had to call him right away (he's in Florida) and get his take on it. He chose to keep those thoughts to himself. He's a Mental Health Tech when he's there. We pray for him when he's gone and feel so much relief when he's back home. But what would have happened if he was "there". In a place where the soldiers should feel "safe". He's stationed at Patrick Air Force Base in Melbourne Florida.

What we can do now is pray for the families who lost loved ones in this senseless act of violence. Check CNN for further updates.

Facebook crosses the 300,000,000 mark.

Was this a feat that could have not been surpassed? I think not. With the buzz around the world concerning social media sites one would guess that eventually this would happen. In saying that how many of YOU out there in Active Rain use it. Yes it is a good tool to stay in contact with family and friends but also a way to promote your business. And is it not what we are seeking??

More business to better ourselves. I actually have 2 Facebook accounts. I try to keep the business one separate from the personal one. Some people overlap but in general it works for me. I have found classmates from 1973 in the Virgin Islands where I grew up and have made lots of new friends as well. Take the time to preruse through the site. Who knows who you may run into.

An executive at Wells Fargo was fired because she allegedly held parties at a beachfront home that Wells Fargo owned and which is in foreclosure in Malibu California. My thoughts were at least she was making sure the property was not being vandalized. With so many homes in this situation sitting vacant all across this country one would think that they would not rise to the level of firing her.

Maybe there’s more to the story that we are not privy to. Now here is another person going to the unemployment line and another ”home” for someone to break into. Read the attached article and let me know what you think.

The way someone reads this could be good and bad depending on what side of the spectrum you are. From a real estate perspective this is very encouraging news that there is a possibility you may not have to give up the profession you like and that there are possible deals coming your way. On the other hand you could be the seller(s) who are in the midst of a bank foreclosure or that pesky short sale.

Either scenario you will not be able to satisfy ALL the people all the time. We see it every day whether we are in real estate or not. At least one sign on every street. We need a boost across these United States. We need the leaders of this free country to make decisions that will benefit the greatest amount of people. We need to get people back to work. Every little bit helps. It’s like a journey. It ALWAYS begins with the first step. The attached article may put a glimmer of hope in your day.

NHRA Full Throttle Drag races. Win or go home.

Being an avid drag race fan for many years I had the opportunity to attend my first ever drag race in Norwalk Ohio. It was a present for my birthday on the 24^th of June. Leaving GR on the morning of the 27^th the anticipation grew as we traveled down the highway toward our destination.

This is something the both of us like to watch (even being 6 states away from each other). Sheri planned everything. When someone wants to do it let them at it. We talked about what we would feel or think when we got there. We arrived when they were starting to qualify for Top Fuel. I’ve followed drag racing back in the Don Garlits, Shirley Muldowney, Don Prudhomme and Bob Glidden days. Some of you may remember those names from years past. Picture a vehicle possessing over 8000 horsepower flying past you at an incredible rate of speed. The track was perfect except for being a little “sticky” at the starting line. FYI cooler temperatures are better on the quarter mile. Okay back to what it feels like when 8000 horsepower turns on. We were approximately ¼ of the way downtrack and when they fired up the superchargers the ground actually vibrated underneath me. They did their “burnouts” in hope of getting the best traction for those extra wide slicks.

At this time you should have your earplugs in because it is very very loud. I have a home theater with over 1000 watts of power and it doesn’t even come close to what it sounds like on the track. The cars first pre-staged then staged then the green lights came on and down they went. It’s like a “blur” when they go by. Your adrenaline is pumping and the fans are cheering on the drivers they love. These cars are moving in excess of 275-300 miles per hour. 1000 ft from start to finish.

The sheer raw power of these cars is quite unbelievable. I also had the opportunity to walk thru the pit area and have autographs of the drivers and their cars. I wore a white t shirt that the drivers signed which I will put in a hush box never to be worn again. Sheri’s daughter(Teresa) added the Full Throttle logo to the shirt(s) for me. Awesome job. I have pictures with Jack Beckman, Jeg Coughlin,Ashley Force Hood, Ron Capps, Don Schumacher, Warren (works on the Pedregon brothers car) and Bob Tasca. I took over 150 pictures over that weekend. The crowds were great. The facility and staff were great and yes there was 1.00 ice cream. Black Cherry and yummy. I never thought I would have had this much fun in 2 days. I will definitely be there next year and yes Sheri will be at my side. I’ve never had anyone remotely interested like she is. She knows the drivers, the cars, the stats etc. She was having the same amount of fun as I was. So all in all it was a great weekend one I won’t soon forget.

I wrote a blog about a homeowner who was in the process of losing her home to Fannie Mae that shot herself some time ago from Akron Ohio has passed away at the age of 91.The article does state she died and not because of the apparent suicide. As we have heard in recent news events across America people who have lost their homes and jobs have resorted to this. It’s a sad state when this happens but there are times when people feel there is no choice. Is there any end in sight?

Facebook worm Threat.

Yes there is a growing threat circulating thru the popular social networking site Facebook. Many of us here at Active Rain and the public have been using this to promote ourselves and more importantly our businesses. Myself personally I’ve come into contact with people who I haven’t seen in over 30 years and that in and of itself is a great thing.

But then there is always someone(s) who have way too much time on their hands to harm others. Why I don’t know. I’ve been blessed to not have any malicious attacks on any of my machines but everyone is not as fortunate as me. So take the precaution and check, than recheck to make sure you don’t end up like some people out there. There is a link attached.

Property Assessments. That time of the year again.

Property assessment letters have been sent out showing the increase and/or decrease for your specific properties. As we are ALL well aware the market Is flooded with short sales and foreclosures. The price percentages have dropped considerably and the municipalities have to make up the shortfall somewhere. I have been successful 6 out of 9 times going thru the process and you should too. We are talking about your hard earned money (or lack thereof). The increases I’ve seen (and heard of) borders on highway robbery. You have to get out there and prove your point.

If you have a Realtor that you’ve been doing business with now is the time to contact them for valuable information. You have to build a case to convince them that the increase is not warranted. In this present economy property values have fallen substantially. I’m not saying anything that most of us already know. There is a blog written by a lender which is helpful as it has the information to appeal the assessment. Below is the link to the appeal form.
