A well written article in The Economist was published on Dec 30, 2008 about Charleston's maturity since the closure of the Navy Base in the mid 90s.  Click here to view the article.  It's true that the closure of this base was eminent doom for the military based economy of little ol' Charleston.

I've been using Visual Tour for about 4 months now.  I've only used them for listings but finally started looking outside the box.  I have a buyer that decided to purchase a new construction spec  home.  They are a military family relocating to Goose Creek, SC to be stationed at the Naval Weapons Station.  Most of their family is out of state and they mentioned they didn't think their family would be able to visit for a while.  During their home inspection, I took my camera to the house and created a visual tour of the house and emailed a link … (18 comments)

I was invited to a Builder focus group for Eastwood Homes last week for a new community in Brickhope Greens in Goose Creek, less than 3 miles from the Naval Weapons Station.  It's a great neighborhood in proximity to the base and very convenient to I-26 and 526.  I have to say that I was very impressed with this builder's logic in getting just a few agents that have already sold in an area to meet to discuss what are buyers looking i.e. upgrades, price points, incentives, etc.  All of the agents selected were known for working with the military community.  The builder and … (7 comments)
