WHAT IS AN “ESTATE SALE”?
As a Certified Probate Real Estate Specialist (CPRES) specializing in the sale of Probate Real Estate, it is not uncommon to witness the survivors of a loved one make decisions that they would not normally consider under other circumstances.  I know… I’ve done it myself, and still want to kick myself when I think about how foolish I was. (Actually, I have other words to describe myself in the months that followed the passing of my wife that come to mind, but I’ll remain professional here.)  More often than not, the closer we were to the … (5 comments)

How is a Restaurant Servers Tip Similar to a REALTORS® Commission?
It seems as if eating in restaurants is much more common place than when I was a lad.  I know if my younger sister and I got to go with the grown-ups to a restaurant we had done something special, for which we were being rewarded.  I can tell you, we always had a bath before we went, dressed in nice clothes and we always behaved in the restaurant.  If we ever got out of line, we would spend the remainder of the time out, in the car (yes alone) … (19 comments)

family: ARE Local Association Members Being Scammed with Phony Health Insurance Deals? - 10/28/09 12:21 PM
I have been one of the uninsured that seems to have congress in an uproar, for about 3 years now.  Before the Government starts making plans for me, I thought it best that I establish my own baseline of heath care and go back to Kaiser, who has been my family's primary medical provider, for as long as I can remember.I received several emails this month, telling me about an "OPEN ENROLLMENT" period for Kaiser, that would expire on October 31st.  Being the procrastinator that I am, the decision to look into this had been put off since the early part … (75 comments)

family: What is the Future of Real Estate... Or, What Have We Learned Since 9/11? - 08/02/08 05:21 PM
There is no debate that the Real Estate market took off after 9/11.  We were at a very rough cross roads in our history and I guess anything could have happened.  One way or the other we, as a country got motivated and there are too many factors to get into here as to everything that contributed to our financial rise and fall of the last 6 years.
This is not about blame.  Yes there were crooks on wall street just as there were crooked lenders and crooked real estate agents and crooked politicians and crooked everything else.  We sensationalize them … (4 comments)

family: The Hemet - San Jacinto Valley: an Overview - 12/19/07 11:59 PM
The Hemet - San Jacinto Valley attract new families and businesses to our area for many reasons.  High on the list has to be the culture our valley has that emphasizes family values.  Our residents and business leaders interact with one another on a daily basis with integrity - which is a breath of fresh air when comparing the environment found in Southern California cities.  The Hemet - San Jacinto Valley offers convenience to some of the world's great recreational facilities making the possibilities almost endless.  Of course, our mild climate is another huge reason to attract newcomers to our valley.

family: It's Good to Be Back in the Rain! - 11/25/07 04:06 AM
It's been two months since I have posted anything here to my blog...and I can say I have missed the experience.  There have been several reasons why I have not been here, which I explain below.  I can say that I have thought of ActiveRain on a regular basis, always saying to myself, "Now there is something I can blog about".For those of you who know me, you know that I have a terminally ill wife, Sherri, who is now on Hospice care.  I am her primary care giver, as we have no family for over 100 miles - so I … (30 comments)

family: It’s a Great Time to be a First Time Home Buyer in Hemet, California - 08/20/07 04:39 AM
It's a Great Time to be a First Time Home Buyer in Hemet, California   by John Occhi, Hemet CA REALTOR®   Hemet CA Real Estate   There is no doubt about it, the local Hemet real estate market has kept up with the housing market throughout the Inland Empire, Riverside County, Southern California and the rest of the country overall, showing a steady decline in both the number of homes being sold each month as well as the value of homes being sold.On the surface, this may sound like bad news...and to some it is.  Don't let it ruin your day though if … (11 comments)

family: Everywhere You turn - Mortgage Fraud - 06/27/07 03:35 AM
Everywhere You turn - Mortgage Fraud   by John Occhi, Hemet CA REALTOR  Hemet CA Real Estate   Hemet, CA is located in Riverside County in Southern California - separated from the Palm Springs area by a simple mountain to the east.  We are the western end of the region known as the Inland Empire - a region that has thrived in recent years with overflow populations moving east from Los Angeles and Orange counties and north from San Diego County.
Unfortunately, with the growth we have experienced, we have been subject to an enormous amount of real estate fraud.  Just this morning, in … (3 comments)

So, You're Going to Move...10 Rules to Simplify Your Life   By John Occhi, Hemet CA REALTOR   Real Estate, Hemet CA
Buying a new home can be extremely stressful, we all know that.  First we have to make sure we pick the right house, in the right neighborhood with the right schools.
Then we get through escrow - all of the financial matter.  Just nerve-racking.  Bet even then, once all of the papers have been signed and it is our homeowner insurance policy that now covers our new home, we still have to move.
Being former military for 10 years, I moved more than I … (0 comments)
