The Jackson public school board will select one of three finalists after each one participates in group forums with the public, parents and students.  The finalists are Dr. Delores Hopkins, Dr. Harvey Franklin Sr. and Dr. Lonnie Edwards.  The forums are scheduled for August 6th and 7th.

We Welcome All The New Residents Of Madison, Mississippi - 07/14/08 12:26 PM
After many long months of debate over Madison 's annexation, the city almost doubled its size over the weekend by adding 13.2 miles around the city limits.  There are an estimated 2,000 plus single family homes added, making a total of almost 10,000 new Madison residents. 
Windsor Hills, Ingleside, Annandale , Fairfield , and Reunion are all among the annexed subdivisions. There were a few residents that fought against the annexation by taking their effort to court, but the state Supreme Court ruled in favor of the city proceeding with the annexation in April.

Many residents and visitors to Jackson , Mississippi love to take a trip to the Jackson Zoological Park , and many wonder how the Zoo came to be.  So, after a little research, I found that the City bought the 79 acres of land needed for the Zoo for thirty-six thousand dollars from Samuel Livingston in 1916.
