It's finally time for the biggest party in Jackson, Mississippi.  The Mal's St. Paddy's Parade is just weeks away, set for March 20th.  The parade will begin its roll through downtown Jackson at 1:00 pm.  And, this year's theme is "It Ain't Easy Being Green."
The parade will begin its route from State Street to Capitol Street, from Capitol Street to Lamar Street, from Lamar Street to Court Street, and from Court Street back to State Street.  This is the second year the parade will take this route.

Good news comes just in time for many consumers who thought they had missed out on the popular tax credit for first-time homebuyers.  Last week, senators agreed to extend the tax credit and to offer a reduced credit to some repeat buyers.
While the first-time home buyers tax credit provides up to $8,000 to homebuyers who have not owned a primary residence for three years or more, the reduced tax credit gives up to $6,500 to repeat homebuyers who have owned their current homes for at least five years.

We recently came across the news that the Mississippi Board of Education is searching nationally for a new superintendent.  They are seeking a candidate who will keep all ongoing programs on track and help in the advancement of the student's education.

Hinds County residents should now feel doubly safe since Sheriff McMillin may soon be keeping Jackson and Byram, Mississippi safe at the same time as he plays dual roles of sheriff and police chief.

Great news art lovers!  For the whole month of July, there will be over 200 outstanding paintings on display from artists across the state at the Art Center of Mississippi in downtown Jackson.  It is what we locals have come to know as the annual Mississippi Artists' Guild fine arts exhibition.
