I think we all know we need to be careful with online content. But as we fill our days with tweets, status updates, comments and blog posts, it's easy to begin to feel immune to the risks accompanied with having a ubiquitous online presence. 
But there's nothing like a good anecdote to remind us of the implications associated with speaking one's mind in cyber space.
I read an article this morning where a  Chicago company has sued a woman for a Tweet she posted where she said:

Who's Ready to Float? - 07/28/09 09:32 AM

Anyone traveling from Maple Valley towards Renton on hot days has noticed the number of cars parked along the road. This week will likely see all available spots taken as we're likely to experience record setting high temperatures and many people will flock to the Cedar River to cool off while inner-tubing down river. (I know my son plans to be among them!)
I've had listings where people can "put in" right at their property and then are picked up further down river in Renton. I personally haven't ever floated the River, as I'm a bit of a water weenie … (0 comments)

One of the great things about AR is it can stimulate conversation and ideas. Judy Chapman wrote an inspiring and moving post this morning entitled "Homeowners Under House Arrest" about her market in Orlando Florida and how as many as 100,000 homeowners are upside down in value...unable to make moves or decisions because they are "trapped" in their homes. 
While I understand the factual perspective of Judy's post, I disagree with the concept that anyone is trapped.
There are always options.

I know my market typically slows down considerably in August. The grass is brown and homes don't look as "fresh" as they may have in May. Agents and buyers take vacations or are focused on back to school shopping and feeling the looming deadline of getting everything done they wanted to get done this summer.And for those with kids at home, it's easy to say "let's just wait 'til the kids are back in school".
If you're interested in buying but think it's better to wait, you may want to rethink that plan.

So my son Connor (19) tells me last week he's going to head to Eastern Washington to go river rafting. He's never gone river rafting, and gets sick anytime he's in any moving vehicle other than a car so I'm not really sure what the appeal was for him.  Of course I immediatly think about the movie "The River Wild" where bad guy Kevin Bacon takes Meryl Streep hostage and forces her to navigate the rushing white-water rapids...

When I toured the RE/MAX International offices back in 2005 I was surprised to hear that Gail Liniger insisted on a "clean desk" policy for the entire company. It was explained that she felt if you came to your desk the next morning with piles everywhere, you'd be bogged down and not have a fresh start.

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, my husband (who is rehabbing from recent open heart surgery) accompanied me to a showing where we waited for over an hour for a prospective tenant (who turned out to be a no-show). Finally we decided to bail and gave in to the tantalizing aromas emanating from the nearby Black Diamond Bakery.
We headed over for lunch, and were delighted to get outdoor seating.

I found a new blog today totally by accident and boy am I glad I did! I live in a relatively small town; population (w/in city limits) about 20,000. I've had my website MapleValleyRealEstate.com since about 1998 and since 1999, I have written all it's content and except for a a very brief period, have been my own "webmaster". It's been hard work but I'm now #1 in most organic searches for the terms "maple valley real estate" and fall on page 1 for most other terms.

Just Sold Green Valley Mini-Farm - 07/06/09 09:44 PM
"Green acres is the place for me. Farm livin' is the life for me. Land spreadin' out so far and wide Keep Manhattan Seattle, just give me that countryside." I've seen aLOT of houses over the nearly 2 decades I've been selling real estate. Although I'm able to appreciate each one (no matter size, condition or location) for it's individuality, every now and then I'm able to view and (even better) sell a really special property.
This was the case with the sale of this 6.5 acre mini-farm on Green Valley Road which closed on June 29.
What an awesome property!

No Closings Today - 07/06/09 11:13 AM
Today is a Furlough day for many King County employees. In an effort to save money, King County employees must take 10 unpaid days off this year. 
Many offices will be closed...including the courthouse....where deeds are recorded.
Because Friday was the legal holiday for the 4th of July and today is a Furlough day anyone waiting to close their home sale in King County will need to wait one more day. Fortunately, because I work with a great Escrow team, I was able to close a sale just under the wire last Thursday which meant the buyers were able to spend the … (3 comments)

Maple Valley Condo Market Report YTD - 07/05/09 11:17 PM
It's not just Maple Valley that is feeling the slowdown in Condo sales, but it was surprising when I logged on to pull stats and realized there hasn't been ONE condo/towhome sale to close in Maple Valley this year.
Keep in mind, not every Townhome community in the City is a condominium. Valley Green townhomes for instance, are single family units and were not recorded as condominiums.

We have a saying here in the Seattle area, "Summer starts on July 5th". The weather is usually less than ideal for July 4th celebrations; backyard picnics, swimming and pyrotechnics. But not this year, the sun is shining and the grills will be working overtime.
