blogging: Abandoned Blogs...Ghost Towns of Cyberspace? - 06/29/09 01:40 AM
The closest I've ever gotten to a "real" ghost town was the 2 part Brady Bunch episode where some of them ended up locked in jail. I'm a big history fan and love to look at old photos and think about the lives these (usually unsmiling) people led on a daily basis.
I came across an interesting blog post tonight via the blog catalog directory. The author, a local agent, was a name familar to me though we had never transacted any business together.
I clicked through because the topic was compelling. The date on the post was November 2008 and it … (59 comments)

blogging: Searching Blindly In the Rain....I Had No Idea It Would Be So Fun! - 04/06/08 07:03 PM
Many weeks ago I decided to expand my horizons here in the Rain and annouced my intention to Branch Out in an attempt to try to meet new writers and members. As with many new habits it worked for awhile, but I've found myself falling back into the old patterns of reading "favorites".
Maybe this is just how blog reading works...much like magazine subscriptions. I tried Oprah's magazine, but decided it was too heavy for me to read on a consistent basis. Every now and then I'll glance at it while in a waiting room or lobby, find an article of interest and think "hmm, maybe I … (14 comments)

blogging: I Don't Really Wanteo to Do a Video - 03/29/08 12:53 PM
I'll admit, I cringed when I saw AR begin the featured video on the home page and even started a video blog.
I HATE having my picture taken w/ a passion and video is even worse....I soooo do not sound like that! (in my own mind, but then again I don't look like me in my own mind either).
Then I read Sara Cooper's post yesterday about her lovin' Rich Jacobson-er I mean her video blog and I'm beginning to realize this is the wave of the future. UGH....Active Rain is like my personal marketing trainer..."do one more thing, just one more thing"

blogging: Should I Subscribe to You?.... I'm Branching Out! - 01/22/08 06:28 PM
A week shy of my two month anniversary here on Active Rain and I have to admit I've gotten into a very comfortable rut. A creature of habit, I'm now in the routine of logging in, checking the featured posts ('cause you just never know what controversy, inspirational post, news story or tech/marketing tip will be featured that day). Then I move over to what I think is called "The Dashboard" where posts land upon submission and are then pushed off the page by newer posts. Then I go to my favorite part- checking in with some favorite bloggers my subscribed to blogs.
Sometimes I comment, sometimes … (36 comments)

blogging: I Am Soooo Glad We Don't Have to Be "Friends" - 01/19/08 06:19 PM
Being relatively new to the world of Social Networking, I'm still trying to find the balance between the personal and professional side of blogging and commenting.  Although I enjoy reading posts about personal stories, and like to sprinkle my own blogging with anecdotes from time to time, I try not to lose sight of the fact that Active Rain is a social network for a business related industry.
For that reason, I will forever be grateful that the AR smarties (and they know who they are) decided to let us be Associates, when choosing to "connect" rather than Friends as My Space and Facebook do.
I just don't feel … (33 comments)

blogging: Be Careful Alice, You May Fall Down the Blogging Rabbit Hole! - 12/04/07 10:53 PM

Just when I started to think, "hmmm this blogging thing is pretty cool", "pretty easy", I began to take note of others' blogs and got curioser and curioser (BTW, I have no idea if that's an actual word or something from a Winnie the Poo or Disney movie, my kids are too old for me to recall, but I digress). Long story short, I'm finding that one cool thing leads to another and another and then another. I am falling down the rabbit hole.....HEAD FIRST and it's got me wondering....
