For many of us, our homes have been our biggest investment and largest source of wealth. The wealth growth can be magnified by the use of other peoples money (OPM). On the other side of the coin losses can also be magnified. Now the markets near term appreciation is unlikely and these current market conditions likely to continue into the foreseeable future. Is the tree dead? I hope it's not. A unhealthy housing and mortgage market has dragged down the entire economy. So it is hard to believe the economy can recover without a stable housing and mortgage market.
Are Bailouts changing the food chain? Should they be? Is natural selection the cure or is that just too simple? In my life I have found the simple solutions are normally the best. Maybe that is the answer to our current problems?
Is the government saving us or helping set fires?
I hope they are not setting fires, only time will tell. At this point it appears there wasn't enough fire prevention in the government and private sectors. Now we are left trying to figure out which fires we are going to fight and if some are to (1 comments)
utah: Being a Grandparent is GREAT! Looking forward to our first Christmas together....
- 11/27/08 01:59 AM
This year it would be very easy to focus on the financial stresses many of us are enduring. Focusing on that today is not going to solve any of my problems. Today my focus is on the number ONE positive event that happened to me this year. It overshadows all the negative. We are blessed to become grandparents.
Not only one BUT two. Beautiful twins.

Raise the financial IQ of buying public and we all can make better buying decisions and hopefully avoid our own personally financial meltdown. Here are my thoughts:
Last week I had the opportunity to volunteer for a Financial Literacy Fair held at a local college for the benefit of all local high schools that wanted to participate. It is a new program fund entirely by local business and volunteers. The goal is to raise the financial IQ by simulating real life.

utah: Utah Home Buyer and Seller Current Market Conditions Q & A
- 11/24/08 09:38 AM
I have been asked questions about this tough market and have listed a few of them below. Has the Utah Real Estate Market bottomed? The Utah market has NOTshown a confirmed bottom. Please understand the market conditions vary from area to area even within a geographical region. Expect markets to confirm their bottom independently of each other. It is a common occurrence in the bottoming process. The National news media will probably not report a bottom until the average of the homes in the US show a confirmed bottom by exhibiting positive price action. Is there a solid indicator we can trust to confirm a bottom? (1 comments)
