The Good, Bad, and Ugly Snow in Crofton MD. - 02/23/10 04:32 PM

THE GOOD...
Through the kitchen window, a view of our backyard with the new-fallen snow.

THE BAD...
34 inches of snow followed by 10 more inches of snow two days later makes for a LOT of shoveling - even after a week of melting.  Thank goodness our daughter Susan recently moved back to Maryland from Texas.  She was a huge help.
By the way, she's 5'7", so that will give you an idea of how high our sidewalk was piled.

Win $500 for Suggesting the Name of a Start-Up Company - 02/21/10 01:00 PM
This is a personal request, having nothing to do with real estate.  If that turns you off, just skip this and read the next post.  If you'd like to win $500 or just learn about my sons' new business venture, read on...

My two sons need your help to name their new business and you could win $500 if your suggestion is selected. I told them my friends on Activerain could probably come up with 100 ideas, and there might even be some folks here who would like to become beta-testers of their product as it comes out of development.

There are some circumstances when you may be eligible to use VA financing again:
The home you purchased with a VA loan was sold and paid off in full when the buyer obtained new financing.  This describes many retired military folks living in Crofton and throughout … (7 comments)

Are You Ready to Dump That Crofton-Area Rental Property? - 02/18/10 10:23 AM

If you own rental property in the Greater Crofton Area and want to get rid of it, now might be a good time for doing that.
Chances are good that you can cut your losses and get the property sold during the next few months while the first-time buyer and repeat-buyer tax credits are still going strong.  After those tax credits expire, I suspect we might see a lull in the local real estate market - and that’s probably right about the time your lease expires again.  You don’t want to wait 'til then.  (Early End Likely for Spring Home-Buying Season)
In fact, it’s possible your … (5 comments)
