It sold too fast! - 03/30/12 05:34 AM
Crofton Home Sold In One Day!  The marketing flyer was prepared but not yet printed, the photo slideshow was made but not yet posted to my blog, the YouTube video was submitted but not yet processed, the photo postcards for targeted mailing were made, addressed and stamped, but not yet mailed.  An agent open house was the one marketing activity that I had a chance to complete.  But I'm not complaining.
The first prospect to view my new listing after it went into MRIS yesterday wrote an offer. The offer was presented, countered, and accepted tonight. It sounds quick and … (13 comments)

For Sale By Owner or List with a Real Estate Agent? - 03/27/12 09:31 PM
There is a moment in the life of all home owners when they are faced with this big red-letter question:
FSBO or LIST?

For Sale By Owner (FSBO):
Do-It-Yourselfer – I'm a do-it-yourselfer in every other aspect of my life. Talented seamstress, green-thumb gardener, my own auto-mechanic, plumber, and electrician! I even do my own taxes and cater my own parties! How hard can it be to put a sign in the yard and post some photos online?
Bad Experience – I know someone who had a bad real estate experience and, of course, it was the real estate … (7 comments)

Petco Closing in Bowie - 03/14/12 07:22 PM
Petco in Bowie Town Center is closing, and their inventory is already down nearly 50%.  They still have plenty of basic products for your dog or cat, however, such as pet food, toys, collars and leashes.  They also have have supplies for your aquarium, as well as hamsters and other pets.  Stop in to pick up some supplies for your pets while they still have so many products available for sale.
We even picked up some dog food and a few pet-themed humorous greeting cards, when we stopped by there today.
As we checked out, I learned that Petco isn't going … (5 comments)

5 Things Your Listing Agent Won’t Tell You - 03/10/12 01:06 PM
Sometimes the truth hurts, and it's not always easy for an agent to be entirely candid with a seller in this politically correct world. Steve is a REALTOR in Huntsville, Alabama, but he's on target with this post for ALL home owners.  If you're thinking of selling any time soon, please take the information in this post to heart. He's trying to be helpful, and I appreciate the opportunity to share his words with you.

Mission NOT Impossible: Eliminating Inefficiences in Real Estate - 03/07/12 06:58 PM
"We've come a long way, Baby!"
That's a huge understatement when it comes to eliminating inefficiencies in real estate.  Just imagine working in this business without computers, lock boxes, fax machines, email, digital cameras, cell phones, GPS, or even the Internet. Talk about inefficiencies in real estate!  We HAVE come a long way since I got my real estate license almost 40 years ago.
From my perspective, these technologies address some of the most significant inefficiencies I've experienced in real estate, but the pursuit of better tools and systems is ongoing. That's probably why I tried blogging on Activerain five years … (10 comments)

A Daytrip from Crofton to the National Pinball Museum - 03/04/12 07:43 AM
The National Pinball Museum opened in January near the Baltimore Inner Harbor and Power Plant Live, just 25 miles and 38 minutes from Crofton.
The pinball museum houses more than 100 pinball machines, including 19th century pinball precursors, vintage woodrail games and other favorites.
"Pinball is more than just a game," according to the Visit Baltimore website, ”it’s a scrapbook of American tradition and folklore, a looking glass of culture, a pleasure-filled journey winding its way through a marriage of art and technology.” For most of us, playing pinball recalls fond memories of rainy days during beach vacations with the family … (11 comments)
