Included in Your Online Relocation Package for Anne Arundel County, Maryland - Home of Fort George G. Meade, NSA, Northrop Grumman, BWI, and the U.S. Naval Academy.
Anne Arundel County agencies are scrambling to anticipate the impact of 22,000 new jobs on infra-structure and public services ranging from transportation to education and health care, while REALTORS and developers are concerned about housing this increased population.  Meanwhile, businesses such as restaurants and retailers explore opportunities for growth and profit in and around Anne Arundel County.
To identify and prepare an effective plan for the expansion of Fort Meade, County Executive John Leopold established a BRAC Task Force in March … (4 comments)

md: Maryland Loves Cal Ripken! - 07/29/07 11:12 AM
Baseball fans know that Cooperstown = Baseball Hall of Fame.  In case you are not a baseball fan, let me bring you up to speed...
This is the day that Baltimore Orioles shortstop Cal Ripken, Jr. and San Diego Padres outfielder Tony Gwynn are being inducted into that Hall of Fame, the highest honor for anyone in baseball.  I can only imagine how emotional it must be for them - it certainly is an exciting day for their fans, even those who may not also be baseball fans.
To be honest, I don't know a thing about Tony Gwynn, and I hope his fans will … (5 comments)

Your real estate connection for Anne Arundel County, Maryland - Home of Fort George G. Meade, Northrop Grumman, BWI and the U.S. Naval Academy
"Maryland is for Crabs" - Who hasn't heard that slogan, even beyond Maryland?
Apparently, if some folks get their way, it may also be "Maryland is for Watermelon" -
A friendly rivalry between Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, who says "there is no beter watermelon anywhere in the country than those grown in Maryland," and Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner, who says "Except those grown in Delaware" has evolved into the MAR-DELicious campaign.
Maryland and Delaware Departments of Agriculture and the University … (22 comments)

md: Grab your umbrella, real estate is falling! - 07/25/07 11:17 AM
MarketWatch reports more bad news for real estate...
...on a national  level.  But it is important for you to remember that the real estate market is more accuratey measured on a LOCAL level.
Today's report by Rex Nutting for MarketWatch sounds very dire:  Existing home sales fall to 5-year low of 5.75 million.  He quotes National Association of REALTORS statistics that sales were down 11.4% in June 2007 from June 2006.  Just yesterday, John Spence reported for MarketWatch that Home-builder stocks fall on renewed housing fears.  Now I would like to call a "time out", please, to ask a question in the face of all this bad … (6 comments)

Your real estate connection for Anne Arundel County, Maryland - Home of Fort George G. Meade, Northrop Grumman, BWI and the U.S. Naval Academy

Maryland real estate may experience a slight "boom" now that word is out about what a great place it is to live!

Money's list of Top 100 Best Places to Live 2007 includes five Maryland communities:   Crofton (72), Catonsville (49), Eldersburg (56), Elkridge (42), and Olney (17).  Communities around the country were ranked for a variety of factors that impact quality of life including affordability, leisure activities, cultural options, job growth, health care access, commute time, and even the weather.  Of course, that's no … (2 comments)

md: Anne Arundel County Real Estate - WATERFRONT CONDOS - 07/17/07 07:32 PM
Waterfront condos are proof that living on the water doesn't have to be a high-maintenance lifestyle!  You can sit in your easy-chair, perhaps a hundred yards from your boat dock, listen to the sound of wind-chimes hanging from the masts of nearby sailboats, and leave all the grounds and building maintenance to someone else.
There are 35 waterfront condos on the market in Anne Arundel County today, July 17, 2007.  They range in price from $275,000 for a one-bedroom condo in Mariners Cove to a three bedroom, three and a half bath townhome in Chesapeake Harbour for $1,499,000.
Other waterfront condo communities include Shearwater, Stoney … (3 comments)

md: Historic Maryland Theater + Pageant = "Must see" in Maryland this week. - 06/24/07 11:12 PM
HAGERSTOWN MD.  Historic Places.  Coming Events.  Posted to Localism.com, by Margaret Woda.
The Miss Maryland Pageant began today, with contestants arriving in Hagerstown for a hectic week of rehearsals, appearances and competition (June 24-July 1).  If you've never been to Hagerstown or to a Miss America state pageant preliminary, this is a great opportunity for you to experience both.  And you still have time to get tickets, which are very affordable.
Competition is held Wednesday thru Sunday at the historic Maryland Theater on Potomac Street, one of Maryland's genuine treasures.  Visiting that venue is worth the trip to Hagerstown from anywhere in the state.  … (0 comments)

md: Odenton MD - Market Report for May 2007 - 06/13/07 07:40 AM
ODENTON MD 21113
Recently released real estate statistics indicate that Odenton (21113) fared better than other Anne Arundel County zipcodes during May 2007, compared to May 2006.
According to the Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, Inc. (MRIS), the mls used by REALTORS and others in the Odenton area, the average "Sold" price was down by less than 1% from a year ago - essentially, values are holding their own.
One statistic that I always look for is New Listings vs. New Contracts, because that is a good indicator of supply and demand - which helps me to predict the market for the next few … (0 comments)

md: Crownsville MD - Market Report for May 2007 vs. May 2006 - 06/10/07 09:54 PM
CROWNSVILLE MD 21032
Sales statistics for Crownsville, MD (21032) were almost scary for May 2007.
There were twenty-four new listings and only three new sales (plus three contingent contracts).  Talk about an imbalance of supply and demand!  All I can say is this:  BUYERS, IT'S A GREAT TIME TO BUY A HOME IN CROWNSVILLE.  (Sorry, Sellers!)  Here are some additional statistics from Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, Inc. (MRIS), comparing May 2007 with May 2006:
Total Units Sold:  Down 61.54%Total Sold Dollar Volume:  Down 71.09%Average Sold Price:  Down 24.84%Median Sold Price:  Down 43.17%Contrary to other areas, however, the days on market are also Down - from 139 … (3 comments)

md: Bowie MD - Market Statistics for April 2007 - 06/01/07 10:47 PM
BOWIE MD 20715, 20716, 20720
As you consider whether to buy or sell a home in the Bowie area, you might want to take a look at recent sales statistics so that you will have realistic expectations.  These figures were published by the Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, Inc., the multiple listing service used in the Bowie area of Prince George's County.
The imbalance of new listings and new contracts is even greater in this area of Bowie.  During April, there were 74 new listings and only 20 new sales.
Fortunately, the average sale price vs. list price has remained fairly good, at more than … (0 comments)

md: Moving - Nuisance or Nightmare? - 05/31/07 03:33 PM
Most real estate transactions usually involve a move for our clients, and it is easy for real estate agents to forget that fact as we check off all the details we track from contract to closing.  It is fair to say that most agents think of closing as an ending, whereas it is just one of many many details related to our clients' moving experience.  While our clients expect their move to be a nuisance, they also fear that it could be a nightmare.
I'll never forget something that one of my mentors said to me about 30 years ago, in the early days of my real estate career:  Real … (1 comments)

md: Odenton MD - Market Report for April 2007 - 05/21/07 05:54 PM
ODENTON MD 21113
Wow, this is interesting...  I've been posting MRIS sales statistics for Anne Arundel County, MD for a few days, and Odenton is the only zipcode (so far) where the numbers seem to be going up.
Total sold dollar volume, average sold price, median sold price, total units sold and average list price for sold homes - all UP from April of last year.  Unfortunately, the average days on market more than doubled.  And the average sale price as a percentage of average list price went down.  That last statistic does not take into account any price reductions before the sale, so it … (0 comments)

md: When I have more time... - 04/16/07 09:05 AM
SENTINELS OF FREEDOM
If not me, who?  If not now, when?  At some point in our lives, many of us have been faced with these questions.  "Someone else" and "when I have more time" have sometimes been my answers.  Do I hear an echo?  Does that sound like anyone you know?
Last month, at the RE/MAX International Convention, I learned about Sentinels of Freedom - a grass roots effort founded by a RE/MAX agent in California to provide life-changing opportunities for men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who have recently suffered severe injuries and now need the support of grateful communities to realize their dreams.  … (1 comments)

md: Anne Arundel County MD - Market Report for March 2007 - 04/11/07 07:37 AM
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY MD
MRIS, the regional multiple listing service for 25 local Associations/Boards of Realtors in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, D.C. and West Virginia, has just released sales statistics for March 2007.  It's not surprising to anyone working in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, to see that everything is down EXCEPT days on market, when compared with last year.  What is surprising is the fact that it's barely down - the sales figures are really almost stable.  I'm certain that agents in other markets around the country would be very pleased to have numbers like these:
Total sold dollar volume is down 2.91% from March 2006 … (0 comments)
