spam comments: A kinder gentler spam is still spam in an Activerain comment - 01/11/12 03:14 PM

ACTIVERAIN COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
One of the first items on a long list of guidelines for participation in Activerain is this: Do not advertise yourself or your services in the comment section of another member's blog post. The link goes to a 2008 post on this topic by Rich Jacobsen, and there are several others linked from his post that you should read - or re-read, if it's been a while. spam comments: Those Annoying Spam Comments - Making Lemonade from Lemons - 06/01/11 07:38 AM

Those annoying spam comments do have their advantages...
They call my attention to old blog posts that sometimes need updating. Many of them were written during my early days on Activerain, when it was necessary to add a signature to each and every post. I removed the earlier signature from dozens of posts, when Activerain added the automated signature feature, but just never got to all of them. Now I make that edit after I "Report a Concern."
