Polar Ice comes to Gilbert
If you've come to Phoenix from the midwest and you've been home sick for a good game of hockey or just plain ice skating, life just got a little better.  Polar Ice opened on Sept. 13th, 2008 in Gilbert.  This is the third facility they have in the valley.  The other two are in Chandler and Peoria.  The Gilbert location has two rinks which combine for over 17,000 sq.ft. of ice. The facility is state of the art in it's design using special sensors that control the temperature of the ice.

In some parts of the Phoenix valley, the combination of bank owned homes and short sales make up the majority of the listings.  As a buyers agent, you always have a suspicious eye towards short sales wonder how long the approval may take if it comes at all.

One of the challenges for anyone looking for a home with wheelchair accessibility is the selection of existing homes that fit their needs.  As mentioned before, home builders do not have "visitability" or "universal design" in their vocabulary.  Even when approached for accommodations before the house is built, the response is "Give us a list of what changes you are looking for and we'll give you a quote".  I'm confident that Phoenix homebuilders are not unique in their approach.  The advantage to making the wheelchair accessibility accommodations, such as a roll in shower, grab bars, … (2 comments)
