el dorado: All Are Welcome At Nana’s House on the 4th of July - 07/04/10 01:19 AM

My family is home for the holiday.  I am always surprised how this house is quiet so much of the time - almost like a sanctuary!  But when everyone comes home, it becomes packed with raw energy.
When daughter Tami arrived, with granddaughters, Isabella and Sophi, they also came with an agenda of finding a new pet bunny.
Within a short time, they were cruising Craig's List on my computer and looking for a furry friend.  A couple hours later, the body count at Nana's had increased by 1.

el dorado: Is It Older Than You? - 06/04/10 01:36 PM

Last week, while strolling around Old Town Auburn, I came across this beauty.  I know what it is, but do you?  Perhaps it's before your time!  OK - OK, we know it's a Chevrolet.  After all it has its insignia poking you in the nose.  Let's hear your guesses!
I take pictures for the purpose of remembering fond times.  I do not impose copyright restrictions on this photo, so you may feel free to use, or distribute as you wish.  However, should you need a Real Estate Professional in the Greater Sacramento area, I hope that you will contact me by email … (24 comments)

el dorado: When You Can’t Sink a Putt - 12/20/09 07:32 AM

It's no secret Lake Tahoe offers a number of recreational opportunities on a year round basis.  However, yesterday I quickly noticed one of the usual landmarks, Lake Tahoe Golf Course, was nowhere to be seen.  The reason - It was covered with snow, and during these winter months is used for a completely different activity - Snowmobiling.
In the Tahoe Basin there are several places that offer this activity to those interested.  The pictures above were taken at Lake Tahoe Snowmobile Tours (Tahoe Golf Course), 2500 Emerald Bay Road (Highway 50), South Shore - Lake Tahoe.
Other area snowmobiling activities or accommodations can … (18 comments)

el dorado: Surrendering to Magellan - 04/01/09 12:13 PM

Those that know me pretty well; also know that I'm not given to fits of melancholy.  However, there are times when I will get really busy with work and activities, which demand my attention for a period of time.  When this sometimes happens I get frustrated that I can't get away from it all.I have a little secret.  I have one of those little Magellan GPS gadgets in my car.  When I have itchy feet and want to go somewhere, but can't possibly get away, I will put a destination address into the GPS gadget.  It's like my little mental … (15 comments)

el dorado: 24 Hour Watch - 09/10/08 10:24 AM
The Sacramento MLS 24 Hour Watch, continues to demonstrate the number of homes going to "Pending Sale" status is near equal to the number of homes entering the market as new listings.  The number of price reduced listings continue to rule the day, as sellers become more realistic in their view of the marketplace. It is encouraging to not be as upside down in inventory vs. pending sales, as has been the case in recent times.  The Greater Sacramento area appears to be contiuing to work it's way through inventory,

The percentage of foreclosures nationally were up 55% over July of last year.
The article goes on to mention that mortgage experts do not foresee any relief in the numbers of home foreclosures anytime soon. The question I have for ActiveRain readers is, when do you project that we will begin seeing a turnaround … (1 comments)

el dorado: A Winning Situation for First Time Buyers and Sellers - 08/14/08 12:56 AM
At the stroke of the pen during the President's recent signing of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008, opportunity arrived for First Time Buyers.  But even beyond that - it is also good news for Sellers of entry-level houses as well.  In recent months many folks dwelling in their first homes, had wished they could move up to larger homes, but were thwarted in doing so by a market that wouldn't easily accommodate the marketing of their present home.
For First Time Buyers, there are incentives and tax saving available. Those who purchase homes between April 9, 2008 and … (2 comments)

el dorado: Looking for Hidden Treasure for a Down Payment - 08/04/08 06:42 PM
Just this morning I was trying to conjure some creative new ways for buyers of real estate to come up with extra cash for a down payment.  I was talking through the fence with a neighbor, who exclaimed, "I'd need to go on a treasure hunt."I thought about that for a minute, and decided to poke around on the internet, looking for a website which might help a few Californians do just that - and go on a treasure hunt.

Some of you will recall news accountings about the State of California finally getting off their duffs, and trying to … (2 comments)
