international talk like a pirate day: 25th Annual "Talk Like a Pirate Day" - 09/19/20 08:53 AM

This is such an unusual year. Thus far, we have seen many of our favored holidays come and go, without fanfare in the company of family and friends. This morning I realized this is the 25th Annual “International Talk Like a Pirate Day.”

For my family, “International Talk Like a Pirate Day,” celebrated each September 19th, has struck a resonate chord almost from the moment of its inception years ago.  It is a day we have cut loose modern convention, and freed our Inner Pirate!
In the past I have photo-blogged them.  They have come with such themes as “Where Pirates Go” and “My Big Fat … (22 comments)

international talk like a pirate day: 20th Annual "International Talk Like a Pirate Day" - 09/19/15 01:01 AM

Some folks say Halloween, Christmas, or their birthday is a favorite holiday of the year.  But, that’s them, it's not me!  I’m much fonder of a newer celebration that has found its beginning in recent years.  My personal favorite is observed today!

international talk like a pirate day: A Pirate's Life for Me! - 09/16/14 08:45 AM
It was on a hot and sultry night near the end of August, when I woke and couldn’t get back to sleep.  That'a not unusual for me.  Generally, I’ll get up, shuffle across the hall to my computer and work until slumber decides to find me. My thoughts were begging for answer - Will it be east or will it be west???  The question urged by an abundance of airline miles begging to be redeemed.
I’ve been west to Hawaii four times.  I wanted something different this time!  When I looked at the calendar, I knew what I must do!  … (48 comments)

international talk like a pirate day: What pirates eat when t' booty has been temporarily misplaced - 09/19/12 08:48 AM
I woke early t' an email from Elizabeth Weintraub this mornin'.
“Lunch - Today,” she asked? o' course I just knew that Elizabeth had t' realize this was September 19th, “International Talk Like a Pirate Day” and she wanted t' celebrate.
“Where?” was me response.  When she replied “China Buffet,” me thought, aaarrh, ole Elizabeth has misplaced her booty agin. “China Buffet” be tasty, and takes barely a silver doubloon t' please t' proprietor.  She wants t' do it cheap!

Imagine me dismay when she told me she didn’t have a pirate hat. How in today’s world does it happen that folks wander around … (23 comments)

international talk like a pirate day: "Ok Macie, Repair the Ship!" - 07/15/12 01:14 AM
Yesterday was our family’s annual pirate party.  It began mid-afternoon, and lasted late into the evening.  In the past, I had hosted the event at my home, in autumn, as close as possible to “Talk Like a Pirate” Day around September 19th.
However, my 15 year-old grandson, John Luis is visiting from Texas, and he hadn’t been to one of our scallywag gatherings, where the gene pool dresses up as pirates and goes nuts for several hours.
My youngest daughter Jill and her husband Steve opened up their home and pool for this year’s event.  Granddaughter, Macie, put her heart and soul into … (24 comments)

international talk like a pirate day: Aaaarrr! – Don’t You Forget! - 09/15/10 04:19 PM

There is a particular holiday that comes each year, which my family takes seriously!  For those of you who haven't heard of it, International Talk Like a Pirate Day arrives each year on September 19th.
The reason I'm letting you know a few days early, is to give you a weblink or two, so you can be certain to set aside this Sunday, for serious Pirate talk, and perhaps cook up a pot of Pirate Stew.
I wouldn't want you to miss out sharing this "important" day with your friends, family and co-workers.
