Thats Right!  Brian Clay is a local boy.  On the podium this evening for the Olympic gold medal in the decatlon, Brian Clay was described as being from California but in fact Clay was a gradusate of our own Castle High School in Kaneohe.  Not only did he win the gold medal, he also set a record in the discus.  The conditions were tough but he was so far ahead that for the final event he only needed to finish the race. Lets hope our great state gets credit for this phenomenal athlete.  You know how proud Hawaiians are.

When was the last time you had a chance to get a little sweat going with a decent workout and experience one of the most beautiful view plains on the entire island of Oahu?  The Pillbox hike in Laniakai is easily accessible from Kaelepulu Street.  The contrast of the verdant pine trees against the Aqua blue coastline of Lanikai and Waimanalo is a canvas only God could have painted.  Makapuu Point and Rabbit Island are visible in the far distance.  Take time off this weekend and go check this gorgeous hike out.

Did you know that you can rent out the Kalama Beach Club even if you are not a member?  This beach front club located at 280 North Kalaheo Avenue has ample parking and is a full 3 acres.  They even have the capability to cook your food in their imu.  The website seems to have several links that are non functioning and the rates published are from 2005.  This Beach Club membership initially was doled out to homeowners in the Kalama Tract subdivision however many owners have not kept up their dues.  The subdivision was initially developed from Land inherited by Queen Kalama.  The subdivision was the first in Kailua and was initiated in 1925 and named in honor of the Queen.

I spoke with several Realtors over the weekend who have noticed that activity has really picked up in the last week.  It seems that many of the Buyers out there don't have Realtors and an agent who is a close friend picked up a Buyer this past weekend and is already out showing them property.  Since I heard from these Realtors saying that they had noticed a lot of Buyers out this past weekend we have had nine showings on my Kailua listing at Papalani street in the past 2 days.  I have been trying to figure out why this sudden surge of activity would occurr and I was wondering if school starting back up had an effect on the activity in the neighborhood.  This listing is in a hot price range and I feel certain we will be getting an offer soon.  Hawaii continues to have unit volume issues (Down approximately 26%) but seems to continue to hold pretty steady in Median Price Range.  I hope this continues to be the case.  There does not seem to be much quality inventory out there.

Aloha from Hawaii Evryone,

The Trump Tower International Hotel and Residences are now slated for an August 2009 bulk closing date.  It was confirmed today that this project is actually slightly ahead of schedule for completion and it looks like barring any complications that residents will be able to move in shortlt after the August close.  My experience is that most developments lag behind this by a month or two but the Donald always bucks trends and seems to be able to wrap things up faster than other developers.
